okay coming off the conceit boat I would have to say WW2 because that is and still is a major eye opener and is one of the scariest events. I mean lots of things came from it that effected the world today so I'm definitely saying World War 2 =-bootz-= |

I would have to say World WAr I. It was the first use of what many consider modern warfare, including tanks and aircraft. It included arial bombing and the use of weapons of mass destruction (chemical agents). It would be the first war to involve many of the countries of the world. In the end, the war left many issues unresolved, and as a result, led up to the events that caused WWII. It was also a turning point for America, where we would withdraw from the world community, in favor of taking care of our own business. WWI changed the way we made war forever, and as a result, would lead to greater death and suffering in future wars. |

I would say the Protestant Reformation and the European Renaissance/Age of Enlightenment. The revival and Greek and Roman learning, and the openness to new ideas really opened the door for alot that would come afterwards in global history. |

Running Wolf, I like your reply. There are many significant events that I could list, but the immediate thing that comes to my mind is the forming of the Constitution of The United States of America, and the Declaration of Independence. The Emancipation Proclamation and Freedom of slaves.....The discovery of Penicillin and the Polio vaccine, are some others. |

...dunno about Declaration of Independence and all that American stuff...as surprise surprise a great majority of the world isn't American couldn't give the slightest, means as much to us as what we plan on having dinner tonight. That said, I'd be more inclined to include minor events like...oh...the creation of the universe. But thats just me. Peace, |
