Date: 9/25/2003 4:57:00 PM From Authorid: 60052 I have dyslexia and was given some great study techniques. First of all, whenever possible use diagrams, models or real life things to help you study. Read one paragraph at a time, stop and think about what you just read, reword it so you can remember it. After reading one paragraph and rewording it, write it down in a study notebook. Shorten each paragraph to one or two sentences that sum up the entire paragraph. When having to memorize a list or parts of a flower for instance (the Pistil is made up of the ovule, ovary, stigma, and style: so I would memorize Overly Obese Students Stink) It's silly, but it works. You can make up your own stuff that is funny for you. Hope this helps. If you need help coming up with study help for the particular thing that you are working on, message me and I will help you. Good Luck! |

Date: 9/28/2003 10:32:00 AM From Authorid: 54987 Type in the search engine 'Mind mapping'. It's a technique that has been proved to be successful for people like yourself.... well for everyone really. I tried it and WOW it improved my memory 100% and it was fun doing it too. I tried it in school and I got the best grades ever. It works using the same techniques as the natural brain in the way that it organizes information. The brain assimilated information through the firing of the synapses in the brain cells.. and this is used in the mind mapping diagrams..... I just did a search too... there's a book by a guy called Tony Buzan on it. His was the book I got a few years ago. Go search and give it a try. Let me know how you got on. That's your next project. |
