Ok here is a little story for you. Last night I went to my sister's house to pick up my kids after work, a little after dark. I pulled up the drive way, like always. I knocked, went in to the living room to see everyone standing in front of the huge picture window. Being the smart one that I am I had to ask..What is everyone looking at? My brother in law says the deer. I say I want to see, he says Didn't you see them when you pulled in? I thought they were just pulling my leg, but sure enough there was 5 not just 1 or 2 but 5 standing probably 5 feet from the drive way with great big flood lights shining on them. Wow...How did I miss that??? So, how observant are you after a long day? Have a great night everyone!!

Date: 9/24/2003 6:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 5252    you know, i drive pretty well, except when i get thinking about something, or focusing on one thing, then i just blank out. like when i first started driving, i was thinking, okay i have to turn after the light. well the light was red but iw as still attempting to drive, and almost got hit. and my friend, one time we were pulling out of burger king, and she turned, but she didn't realize it was a one way, and she was going the wrong way, so we turned just in time, but a Semi almost hit us!

Date: 9/24/2003 6:48:00 PM  From Authorid: 53900    Well I dont drive a car but I do go on bike rides alot and trust me I would notice 4 or 5 deer...LOL I even notice little things like butterflies and birds and dragonflies but tehn I am going on a bike ride to relax and to kind of get back to nature you know? So maybe if I was driving a car it would be different. I do know though that my husband is like that well he would have noticed the deer(yea with the hood of our car so he could have it for dinner) but anyhow dont feel bad cause when I go online you can say something to me and I will hear you talking and I will just go yea ok uh huh and not hear anything at all just noise LOL
Date: 9/24/2003 6:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 20956    i like to think that i am a pretty observant driver, but sometimes i scare myself because i will be driving along and if i am deep in thought i may pull up to my destination and think 'How the heck did i get here?' ~ what i mean is that i have been so deep in thought that i dont even remember the drive. that scares me!!
Date: 9/24/2003 7:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 29532    Still VERY observant. I would have spotted those things a mile away.
Date: 9/24/2003 7:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 42515    LOL Sun Angel I am the same way :P

Date: 9/24/2003 7:15:00 PM  From Authorid: 31837    LOL! Sometimes, I'll be driving my usual way home, and not remember passing by a certain place I drove by, or not remember taking a turn on various streets... it's kinda like blacking out.
Date: 9/24/2003 7:17:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53013    t-dub I know that feeling as well. Thanks for commenting.
Date: 9/24/2003 8:45:00 PM  From Authorid: 31048    LOL, unfortunately I can totally relate with Hyperchick on that one...one time when I first started driving, I was thinking about something hilarious that had happened at school, and the next thing I knew I was running a stop sign out into a busy street! This car had to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting me. Then I started thinking about how stupid that was, and suddenly realized I was driving with two wheels on the curb! LOL!! EVERYONE was staring at me by then...they probably thought I was drunk! LMAO
Date: 9/24/2003 9:48:00 PM  From Authorid: 13897    oh my god.. sometimes i'm in like.. a frozen driving zone in the MIDDLE of the day.. i'm totally not observant.. i just do what i need to do to get home. ehehehhee so i can totally relate... missing these totally obvious things. oh well! we all have our days!
Date: 9/25/2003 4:31:00 AM  From Authorid: 42945    I try to be very observant and careful when driving at night because of the Kangaroos and Wombats that stray onto the roads here hun....hugs
Date: 9/25/2003 7:51:00 AM  From Authorid: 53054    LOLZ...I think that I would of seen some deers, but still today i was driving along not really paying any attention and there were 4 ducks walking across the street (if someone sees you run over them there is a fine) BUT i didnt see them, and if my sis hadnt said something i might off run over them...so i dunno! maybe i wouldnt of seen the deer either lolz! *hugz* I spose u will b more OBSERVANT now! Date: 9/25/2003 1:36:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53013    Thanks for the comments Blondie, Magenta Blue, Zema, and Lil Leppy. Yeah, I am going to much more observant when I drive. Geez, I can only imagine what I have missed.
Date: 1/15/2004 10:38:00 AM  From Authorid: 28363    (imo)you kind of have to learn how to spot deer, someone may have better eyesight than another but still not see them until they get used to looking for them in a certain way. v interesting post
