I heard that Vitamin E helps to diminish the scars a bit. But you have to use it everyday. It's an oil that you rub on your skin. |

Evil Gemini, that is a myth. It only works if you use it BEFORE you get scars, ie. stretch marks. And even then, it only works up to a certain point. |

Well thanks for telling me. I have a scar on my arm and my mom told me to use vitamin E and it hasn't worked yet. THANKS! Now I don't have to waste my time putting it on. |

nothing really a scar is a scar....they are just a mark almost like something to remind you of wha tyour life has been and wha tyou have done the sooner you grow to like it the better... you can cover it up with make up |

A woman told me that she had facial scars after an accident and she was advised to rub in talcum powder. She doesn't know why it works but it does. I can't see the scar on her. I think you have to do it while the scar is fresh though. It may be too late. Maybe a plastic surgeon can redo it. Some of those doctors are real butchers. |

I think I will try Mederma, because my mom's scar is less visable now, but I'm not sure how well it will work on mine since it's an old scar. I guess it won't hurt to try though. Thanks for all the replies. |

I used vitamin E oil during pregnancy and have no stretch marks. My mom used it on a chin scar and it did help. My youngest daughter split open her chin a couple of years ago and the doctor recommended Mederma which we used on her and still do, and it HAS diminished the appearance of the scar, although I'm sure you understand it won't make the scar disappear. God Bless. |

Yes, Deb, I know it will never go away, but it looks really rough, and I just wanted to help the appearance a bit. I'll just tell everyone that it's my war scar. lol In all seriousness though, I'm embarrassed to wear bathing suits because it looks so bad. Guess I should learn to live with it and not worry about how it looks. |

My older daughter got a scar right below her eye at a very young age and I have always told her it was a mark of character. We all have scars, hon, so try not to worry about it. God Bless. |

Thank you Kethria You're right, Deb. I shouldn't worry about it. It doesn't make me less of a person or take away from my personality. Thank you very much for the kind words. I appreciate it. |
