In the name of …
It truly is amazing to me the things that people do in the name of god. We pray. We fight. We keep peace. We start war. We love one another. We can destroy other’s beliefs. We share. We are selfish. We thank god for winning. It was his will if we lose. We thank him for creation. We accept him when he takes it away. We credit him for success, But, blame others for failures. Perfect creatures are in god’s image, Blemishes are evil.
We use god to help others. To do good things. To love one another. But, if someone believes in another god, We preach, We convert, History shows we are violent.
------------------------------------------------------ It amazes me, what people do in the name of politics.
We believe in ideals, which instigates the interest of politics. However, those ideals go compromised for the benefit of control. We speak loud of faults, yet present no solution. Ideas of patriotism always seem to differ, With the different parties calling each other unpatriotic. A land of the people, becomes a land of the people’s workplace. And the workplace of the people, becomes ran by micromanagement. And that micromanagement creeps into your home. We want to save the world. So we can drive S.U.V.’s a bit longer. We want to end world suffering. We hate the homeless down the street.
All in the name of politics.
----------------------------------------------------- It amazes me, what people do in the name of family.
We hold tradition. We allow unforgivable racial slurs. We disregard ancestor’s history. We are the first to strike their flaws, Yet the first to stand defense. We are always there for them. Yet, they are the first we expect things from. We learn from family, Just to improve ourselves. We still love them, though …. No matter their politics or religion.
Which brings me to the final thing that amazes me.
Love.
Oh, what we do for love. We are foolish for attention, From that mate we seek affection. We grow blisters in our mind, From the memory running of that person. We write letters until our fingers are sore. We gain an immune system to self torture, If it means we get just one more second with that person. That person is the only one that can seem to speak your language. Everyone else seems like a talking fish. Clouds are beneath your feet, And the heavens are in reach. Your skin is ten years younger, And your heart is a cufflink on your sleeve.
But, alas, when the love has exhausted, You are changed for a while. You have now realized that empty hole In your heart. Sometimes, a hole goes unrecognized Until you realize that something belongs there. A void in your mind, that you must fill with something else.
A void in your mind, that begins to be filled By your family, your politics, and your religion.
Ah, alas, the powerful emotions that encompass a confused heart with over emotion.
