Training for SCUBA diving.

Greetings USM! I have a question here for anyone who is knowledgeable about SCUBA training. I am very interested in it and am thinking about finding a class that teaches. There is a course offered in spring at my college, and so it would be free to me to take it as my scholarship would pay for it. But what I am wondering is if I would have to buy my own eqiupment for it and what that would entail and how much it would cost. Also if I decided not to take the classes at my school, how much would lessons cost me? Thank you for any help you can give me. -Headless Horseman

A set of fins, snorkel, and mask can run as low as $50, or as high as $150. There is also other equipment you may have to buy. The last time I checked on lessons stateside, it was $500 or higher for certification. Down in the islands of the Carribean, I have seen it as low as $225 for certification.
