You would probably have to buy your basic equipment. Most dive schools require that. The cost would be based on the quality of equipment. A set of fins, snorkel, and mask can run as low as $50, or as high as $150. There is also other equipment you may have to buy. The last time I checked on lessons stateside, it was $500 or higher for certification. Down in the islands of the Carribean, I have seen it as low as $225 for certification. |

I got certified as a class in high school. I didnt need any equipment there but I did have to pay a fee if I wanted to pay for full certification. it was total around 500 because a diving trip was included. Im not sure about college though. |

My bf and i are doing this in a month or so! We are going through a diving school and they hire out the equipment but we plan to travel and do it so we are going to buy are own stuff. Quite expensive though! i cant wait .... hope you have a great time |

well when i was trained i learned through a special program thingy and didnt have to buy my own equipment and as for cost im not sure |

My dad was a SCUBA instructor, as I recall he said that some equipment was loaned, and others you had to buy but this was at NDSU back in the 60's LOL |
