Date: 8/27/2003 5:59:00 AM From Authorid: 13636 *raises eyebrows* where I'm not Christian, I dont mind having God in the Pledge or on our money....but ONLY for the tradition factor. But being in that 14% (which I believe is WAY higher, just no one's owning up to it out of fear of uneducated peoples' reactions), I don't want my kid to pray to a God he doesn't believe in, just because everyone else is. I personally am going to teach my kids about many religions, and let them choose (I believe all paths lead to the same destination) and I don't want them to feel uncomfortable, or "different", because of it. This is why I don't believe in prayer in schools.....now, I can **MAYBE** see a "moment of silent meditation" kinda thing....but nothing led and blindly followed. And, also (sorry, I'm very hyper today, and being very vocal comes with that. lol), I do not believe that crime and violence are because of lack of prayer and religion. I believe it is from desensitization, and the recent trend of lack of parenting and teaching common right from wrong...not religion. |

Date: 8/28/2003 2:58:00 AM From Authorid: 13636 oh and another thing....I had a Zoology teacher in high school that REFUSED to teach us evolutionism because she was Christian. She skipped the whole chapter. |
Date: 8/30/2003 2:19:00 PM From Authorid: 62301 I can understand that BG. If she didn't think evolution was right, it's not like she could have taught any alternatives along side it....Good post SG. Audria |
