Mummy

Daddy, where is mummy?
I thought that you would know,
I drew a pretty picture,
That to her I want to show.

Daddy what’s the matter?
Why have you started to cry?
I thought mummy would like the picture,
I gave it a nice blue sky.

I know that she was here yesterday,
But I’ve looked all around,
I can’t find a single trace,
Of her upon the ground.

Daddy, where’d our car go?
I can’t see it outside,
I remember mummy saying,
She was going for a drive.

Daddy, what’s happened?
Where has mummy gone?
Why has she left us?
I knew something was wrong.

You say she’s in heaven now,
Will she be coming home soon?
Is that where she went for a drive?
Yesterday’s Sunday afternoon?

You gave me a picture of her,
You said it was to remember,
But I don’t want this picture daddy,
I want my mummy forever.

You say I can’t have her,
But God’s taking care of her now,
Will God take care of us too?
Can I go visit somehow?

I only just understand it,
Why did she have to die?
But you say that’s what happens,
When others drink and drive.

Date: 8/16/2003 8:45:00 AM  From Authorid: 55386    Oh wow. Yeah, Corey said it. Wow. You got me crying too! Only a great poet can do that, somoene with a gift so special. This is very true. I was just telling my sister how I didn't like her drinking, and she walked home, or took a cab or something thankfully. But this was amazing. Great job and keep writing!
