"...And Sam Bass ran out of the house, still wearing my mother's apron." Granny Chittum was finishing her story, and the sun was about to set. "I must go now, Granny. Eileen and I have a long trip ahead of us," Mary Jo said. "Look out for the Hairy Man!" "Mother says the Hairy Man does not exist." "She never saw him. I have."

Sundown came fast for poor Mary Jo and Eileen. They needed a shortcut, so Mary Jo nudged her to go right onto Bushy Creek Road. Everything was going fine, until they were caught...by a six foot Hairy Man. It was an awful sight. His eyes gleamed in the darkness. A tail that rattled when it shook. Huge claws. Poisonous fangs. "Why, hello there. Why have you come? Hasent anyone told you not to come here at night?" the creture spoke. "Yes. I just needed shortcut home,"MJ spoke up. "Arent you afraid? See my tail? It rattles like a pit of rattlesnakes, dosent it?" Hairy Man said. "Yes, and alot of noise it makes, Hairy Man." "And my fangs. They drip poison. One drop on you, and your gone." "I'm sure of that, Hairy Man." "And my claws. One slash and you'l be sliced all the way through." "Of course, Hairy Man." "Arent you afraid?" "I'm sorry, Hairy Man. But I'm not. I would be lying if I said yes." The Hairy Man roared. "Well, why not? I hope you know know, I was here before the Pilgrims, the Mexicans, and the Indians. I even scared the great Sam Bass. Now why arent you afraid?!?!?" "Because, Hairy Man, your tail, claws, and fangs may be very frightening, but I have one thing you don't.""What's that." "EILEEN!!!" With that call, the horse sped off, with the Hairy Man right behind them. They came up to a creek, Eileen jumped, and the Hairy Man missed, and they were safe.

Nowadays, if you visit Bushy Creek Road, go to the creek. There you shall see two horseshoe prints. Also, you'll see two marks, whitch mey look like chisel marks, but it was really claws. Then, look up at the street sign. Why do they call it Hairy Man Road?

How it changed my life:

No
