Date: 8/13/2003 8:46:00 PM From Authorid: 53900 Go slowly about touching one...seriously it wil work just go to a place where they have them in cages and then eventually get up to touching one. I am only afraid of spiders and snakes like that but as long as I dont have to touch a snake I am ok. Oh yea and big dogs freak me out to |
Date: 8/13/2003 8:47:00 PM From Authorid: 53900 OH yea maybe try a hypnotist |
Date: 8/13/2003 8:49:00 PM From Authorid: 13636 bugs are cool. I dont like pain. And I'm not a big fan of huge crowds of strangers. |
Date: 8/13/2003 8:59:00 PM From Authorid: 31765 Bet the bugs were more traumatized *g* |
Date: 8/13/2003 9:01:00 PM From Authorid: 48129 There are therapists who do specialize in phobias...its done by "flooding"...it can be taken extremely slowly in steps or the person may be overwhelmingly "flooded" with the phobia. It probably would be to your advantage to find that just specializes. hope this helps some. |
Date: 8/13/2003 9:03:00 PM From Authorid: 31765 Oh, and you'd laugh at my phobia. Everyone does lol.. |
Date: 8/13/2003 9:35:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 29532 nope, told ya, NOT gonna touch one ever, never, nope, nuh uh, no way, nada, no mas, no way. |
Date: 8/13/2003 9:38:00 PM From Authorid: 53900 LOL how can you be scared of butterflies and dragonflies though? They are so pretty...seriously I think the flooding thing is a good idea and so is hypnotising if you can afford either |
Date: 8/13/2003 9:42:00 PM From Authorid: 24924 If ANYONE has a worse phobia than me about bugs/spiders/creepy crawlies....then they got it real baaaaad. Spiders absolutely freak me out. I had a weird thing happen this morning. I stepped out on the porch to drink my coffee; and there was a HUGE preying Mantis just sitting there. I watched and watched; then came back several times during the day, and that Mantis never had even moved even the slightest bit from the position I first saw it. I was unnerved by this, and took a broom and swatted at it. It just moved on down the railing a few feet and stayed there. It is STILL there. Creeeepy! Bugs; ugh. |
Date: 8/13/2003 10:46:00 PM From Authorid: 57232 I don't know, but if you find out let me know! I've had nightmares about them too. I use to in dreams constantly think I was in bed with a spider. The worst case is when I lived in my old house I was sleeping in the living room. I got up still asleep and ran from the bed into the kitchen. Only I slammed into the doorway. I slammed so hard that I got a BLACK!!! bruise in a line going down my breast, and I got a lump, and I thought it was something, but it was from slamming that hard into the doorframe, and this was all in my sleep over fear of a spider. |
Date: 8/14/2003 11:05:00 AM From Authorid: 62222 systematic desensitzation: you have to introduce yourself to you fear in controlled environments loosing the constraints on the situation as you become more and more comfortable with the preceding situation, ultimatley leading up to a situation where you are fearless.<regretfulhalo> |
Date: 8/14/2003 12:22:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 29532 Thinkie, I am pretty bad, I would NEVER be able to swat at it with a broom that was attached to an 11,000 foot pole, too scary. I'd scream and freeze and yell for my hubby to kill it. |
Date: 8/14/2003 12:23:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 29532 B. Monkey, I get ya. I'm like that. |

Date: 8/14/2003 3:18:00 PM From Authorid: 62222 LOL, sorry but that is how a psychiatrist will deal with the situation. It is the standard procedure for curing phobias...<regretfulhalo> |
Date: 8/14/2003 5:17:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 29532 Well, we pay them enough, make a new cure. |

Date: 8/14/2003 7:44:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 29532 nope, scared more than you can ever imagine of them, to the point I WILL not go into the grass without shoes on, nor sit on the ground. And, I will not go outside to smoke at night, I close myself up in the bathroom. |
Date: 8/15/2003 7:32:00 AM From Authorid: 13636 bugs are coooool....well except for roaches and those CRAZY palmetto bugs that throw cars at you when you try to step on them....yea...eww....but OTHER bugs are cool. I just pick 'em up and throw them out of the house. lol Sean isnt allowed to kill them or I smack him |
Date: 8/15/2003 7:35:00 AM From Authorid: 15394 gotta face that fear... be close to some bugs, look at them, realize the power one has over the other... yes you can overcome, but it takes the guts of facing it, seeing it, and then accepting the critters for what they are... weird huh! |
Date: 8/15/2003 10:23:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 29532 well, your gonna be ebating the heck out of my hubby then Megadoodle, cause not only does he kill all of them in the house, but outside as well. Bare footed or sock, even shoes, man, he just pounds them straight to hell. |
Date: 8/28/2003 4:33:00 AM From Authorid: 13636 I'll stomp on HIM if I see him. *stomps Shane's head* He's NOT ALLOWED!!!!! Although I just killed a bunch of maggots in my kitchen *gags* I hate this house. I know, I know....hypocrisy is great isnt it? |
