I gaze out staring From inside my shell Wanting to escape From this lonely hell
For I am alone Yet utterly exposed My inner turmoil No-one knows
The hurt; the pain The sadness and fear Their agonies and anguish I often hear
They reveal their secrets Their truths and souls But my confusion To no-one I've told
My quest to understand The feelings inside To finally know Why I feel I've died
A walking shell Is all that's left All emotion gone The victim of theft
Stolen slowly piece by piece Blown away like an autumn leaf Leaving me empty, alone and afraid The price for caring, too high to have paid
So I am left to soldier on The hurt always present, never gone For I am lonely in this shell My own clandestine, private hell
