'Who is that looking at me ? Or rather staring back at me.'
There is something familiar in those brown eyes. Those eyes that are darker than before, surrounded by dark rings in a face dressed in a whole tangle of hair. A face of which the skin has lost its natural blush, it's now ashgrey. Where have the full red lips gone to ?
It used to be such a bright face, young and shining. A natural beauty, people said. Radiant eyes wide open, looking forward to a new challenge, to a new day, eager to step into the world. Eyes with the everlasting twinkle in them. The child that wouldn't leave. A big smile for everyone, and a big smile right back. What happened ?

The world in which new challenges awaited, challenges which she no longer looked forward to, but which she considered to be too hard to take on and conquer. She no longer bothered. It hadn't brought her anything.
This state of total numbness went on for a while, she lost track of time, and the longer it lasted, the more energy she lost and no one was there to help her refule. Until one afternoon she decided not to get up at all. Just stay in bed. Take the easy way. Stay away from the world and it might just go away. It didn't.
One day she couldn't stay in bed no longer, something in her told her to get up and move, do something ! So she did. Was this her point of return ? She got up and went into the bathroom and looked at herself in the mirror.
She never got over it.
It was a serene funeral. They had put a picture on top of the coffin. A young woman with bright brown eyes and a big smile for everyone. It must have been taken some time ago...
