A New Yorker friend of mine told me this story.
In Brooklyn, New York, a young woman was walking home to her apartment. She had a single purse on a strap around her shoulder, and seemed carefree.
Unsurprisingly, a mugger leaped out in front of her and shoved a switchblade in front of her. "Gimme your purse!" he shouted.
She handed over the purse, and then, when he was getting ready to run, she said, "Look at my license."
"Huh?" he said, looking confused.
"Look, I'm trying to do you a favor. I don't have a gun. But if you mug me, you're asking for trouble. Just pull out my driver's license and look at my name."
Puzzled, the mugger pulled the girl's driver's license from the purse and read her name: "Angela Gotti" (as in Mafia Don, John Gotti!)
The mugger handed back her purse and offered to walk her home!!!!
She's no relation to the Mafia chieftain, but he didn't know that!
