THE AMITYVILLE HORROR

The book was a runaway best seller. Many people believed, many did not. The Lutzs' were ridiculed and humiliated. To try and dispel the rumors of a hoax, George invited a Dr. Kaplan to go to the house and investigate. He shows up with six witches and a television crew. George is so livid he throws them all out of the house. Then he calls the Warrens.

Ed & Lorraine Warren are both highly respected paranormal investigators based out of CT. Ed is a demonologist and Lorraine is a clairvoyant. They have been "chasing ghosts" for years. Below is a summary based on the Warren's investigation into the Amityville house. They know it's not a hoax. They have proof that they only show when you attend their seminars. It is shocking and it will turn the disbeliever into a beliver. Here is the summary:

~The Lutzs recieved little or no money from the book or the movie that followed. So the theory that they "did it for money" fell flat.

~The Warren's feel that because Dr. Kaplan was humilated by being thrown out of the house , then "passed over" for the Warrens, he has made it his life ambition to "prove" the story is a hoax. But everytime Ed Warren tries to get him to produce his "proof" he comes up with a reason not to. Ed once offered him $5000 but still Kaplan turns him down.

~Jay Anson, the author of "The Amityville Horror" suffered a heart attack while writing it. Although he recovered, he had another one while writing a new book about the Anti-Christ. The Warrens believe it's another bizarre "conicidence" in this fascinating story.

~The police chief's son, a reporter, was told to write a fake story in Newsday that the Amityville story was a hoax. This was because after the book came out the traffice in the village became too much. People were coming from all over to see the house for themselves, and the neighbors were complaining.

~When the Warrens went to the house to investigate was when they knew it was not a hoax. Here are some of the things that occurred:

*On the 2nd floor, Lorraine felt a huge force of rushing water and the air around her became almost unbearable.

*In the sewing room the feeling was so evil that it scared the heck out of an NYC-TV anchorman who had come with the Warrens.

in Amy's bedroom, Lorraine immediately knew that the bed Amy had slept in was the same one the DeFeo girl was murdered in. (I will never understand why they let their children sleep in the death beds.)

*In the master bedroom, Lorraine could feel the horror all around her, as if it was closing in. It did not get better as they moved from room to room.

*On the 3rd floor, Lorraine had the most powerful and haunting experience. Here she clairvoyantly encounted Ronald DeFeo Jr. She says the encounter was so evil, so sinister, that she felt she could not "eject" it from the house. *The house had a powerful effect on the men present. Two of them had heart palpitations and had to lie down. Ed was attacked in the basement by unseen hands and he says it "felt like I was being picked up." He used religious artifacts to break free and order the spirits out of the house. The NYC-TV anchorman actually passed out from fear.

As I said before, the Warrens know this was not a hoax. They went into the house and experienced the horror for themselves. They have shocking evidence to prove that this case is true. To this day, The Amityville Horror is their most famous case.

The lutzs now live in California and are divorced. They still have trouble putting Amityville in the past. The house has been re-sold and as of this date, nothing "strange" has happened to the new owners. The street number has been changed from 112 to protect their privacy. The family priest has died as well as Dr. Kaplan

Date: 7/31/2003 8:51:00 PM  From Authorid: 62100    Where on earth did you get your information?? George Lutz himself admitted that this was a hoax..he got in over his head on the place and couldn't afford the mortgage so he concocted the story to get out of the sale. Also..he approached Dr. Kaplan who told him that he would come investiagte but that if this was a hoax that "the people would know" and George Lutz called him a few days later saying that they "didn't want the publicity" then shortly after that brought in the Warrens. It's all in a report on a site called prairie ghosts or something like that..try a search under "Haunted America" and "Troy Taylor".

America's most famous haunted house is located in Amityville, New York, where in 1974 a man murdered his parents and siblings. A year later the house was bought by George and Kathy Lutz who soon claimed they were driven out by spooky events, including demon tracks in the snow and damage to doors and windows. Investigation showed the events never transpired, and the murderer's lawyers confessed how, for money, he and the Lutzes had "created this horror story over many bottles of wine." Despite the admission, the story spawned the best-selling book Amityville Horror and a franchise of successful horror films that continue to be released on video today.

The subject, of course, was The Amityville Horror. Attorney Roger Stacy, with the assistance of author Ric Osuna, decided to rebut many of the continued stories that George Lee Lutz promotes in his attempt to resurrect the Amityville hoax. "

Did paranormal activity follow your family after you left the home on Ocean Ave.?

George Lutz
Yes it did — for a number of years and in a lot of different ways. Over those years, there were many, many times that we thought the activity had stopped. But just as many times, we came to believe otherwise.

We worked very, very hard at trying not to blame the "house" on things that would go wrong. But too many events take away the possibility of randomness. It's been a long time now since we've been as concerned as we used to be about this.

Date: 7/31/2003 9:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 53427    I heard that all the owners since the Lutzes have had absolutely no supernatural experiences. And that a lot of what Jay Anson wrote in the book about the house's history was false. I found an excellent website about it. I'll see if I can find it again.

Date: 7/31/2003 10:30:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15070    ~OMG!!!~ I am in the COOLEST Chat/Discussion Board watching George Lutz fighting it out with Christopher & Daniel (his step-sons!) over the lies & truth of the Amityville Horror! This is the BOMB! I gotta get back into "chat"
Date: 8/1/2003 12:29:00 AM  From Authorid: 62100    I'm not questioning you personally LSG..I actually have had an interest in Amityville for years..read the book, saw the movie (more than once on both counts even)..it was so weird though because I had literally JUST finished reading at prairie ghosts website about this story..how weird is that?? Then after I posted my first coment to you here, I was talking to my fiance about it and he said how the Lutzes could have been forced to say that it was all a hoax or something, and that the whole thing was so scary that certain persons may have wanted attention removed from the whole subject. So anything is possible..I would love to be watching that caht right now..can ya send me a transcript?? At least give us some more details...
Date: 8/1/2003 12:34:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15070    oh, I understand.....I felt bad because I have always been very fond of the Warrens (Ed & Lorraine). They are the Paranormal Researchers who investigated Amityville. (I have had a story published in their magazine.). Then, I heard from others that the Warrens were less than honest about Amityville. I was actually hurt! Their accuser was an Author how has worked with them. So, I have to be honest, I go back-and-forth with the Amityville story (I actually am a Paranormal Researcher). So, I didn't mean to sound defensic=ve. Sorry if it came off that way...
Date: 8/1/2003 12:36:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15070    I mean "defensive"....bedtime!!!
Date: 8/1/2003 2:37:00 AM  From Authorid: 62100    LOL..np LSG..I just finished reading some more and saved the page to my favorites so that I can go back..thanks so much for sending me the link..you have helped to restoke my interest!!
Date: 8/1/2003 5:02:00 AM  From Authorid: 47618    i think George is begining to fall for his own hoax...he claimed onced that nothing occured after the incidents in the house...but then he claims they did...and so on and so forth. Frankly, he's become delusional in his quest for attention. It's funny because in the other books describing their encounters after leaving the house, the children don't seem to age at all during a span of 7 years....
Date: 8/1/2003 9:03:00 AM  From Authorid: 18155    Frankly, I've read nothing, from at least 10 books about the "haunting" or whatever went on, that makes me believe that is was nothing more than a quick-rich scheme that the American public bought hook-line-and sinker.Write a book, hype it and the first movie, and retire. After 2 or 3 sequels to the first film, I think the whole thing lost any believeabily, if it ever had any to begin with.
Date: 8/1/2003 11:09:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15070    who deleted the people asking for the link? (Admin?) If anyone needs it-message me. How about that Snookums, what a trip, huh???
Date: 8/1/2003 11:11:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15070    Xy-no problem. Isn't that wild???
Date: 8/1/2003 3:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 53427    What an awesome link LSG. I still am totally undecided about what to believe. I thought that George and Kathy Lutz profitted a good deal from the book and movie. I'd like to find out exactly how much money they received. I'd love to know what Kathy Lutz says about her experiences now. I'm gonna do a web search. I'll let you know if I find anything.
Date: 8/1/2003 5:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 30401    This is a very intersting story. I own all the videos..even if it isn't real (which I guess we'll never know) it still is a great story.:-) thanks for sharing this information.
Date: 8/1/2003 9:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 62100    LSG..it is wild..I'm gonna head back there after a bit and read some more..the part that boggles my mind is that if Chris has a story to tell why is he not telling it?? He keeps saying he wants to make his share of the profit so he won't divulge anything yet..from what I read it's been like 3 years and still nothing from him..if he's just in it for the dollars I'm not sure that I'll believe anything he has to say.
