Well I dont think there should be couples having 6,7 or more kids and not be able to afford to have them or women going from guy to guy having a kid with all of them but at the same time if you have one child and wanted another I dont think the government should be able to tell you cannot have another child. |

I think to be realistic in this day and age, and I know a few years back I would never have thought like this, I really think that 2 children is enough, might stop the women over here having kids to every Tom, Dick and Harry they get involved with and our Government keeping them...good post...hugs |

I think that 2 or 3 kids is plenty...I have one...And it is really hard for me to give him everything that he needs..I would love to have just one more...but, right now...I would not beable to afford another...So, In a way...I think that if you have the money to keep the children, than go for it...but, if you don't have the money to support them...then don't...easy and as simple as that...This is my opinion of course...**Big Canadian Hugs** |

That is a really tough question. I would like t say no but when I think of it I think that would be a good idea..at least for now. But then again what will they do if someone does have another baby ? Kill it ? that would be murder. |

I don't really like the idea of the government controlling how many children we're allowed. Maybe it would help if they had free sterilization programs for anyone that wanted it. As long as they were of a certain age. |

Also what about those mothers who have twins or triplets or even quadrulets? Are they supposed to kill them when they are born or while they are inside her stomach? What if she takes all precautions even going as far as having her tubes tied and still ends up pregnant? What if you have a child and something were to happen to that child and the desire to have another one was to be there(not as a replacement of course just because you want another child to love) would they not be able to because htey already had one? And one more question what if you were married and you had a child and then your husband died then 10 years later you were to get married again and that man did not have a child and would like ot have one would that be ok? Or would that man not be able to be become a father because of a law the government has made? |

According to a report I read recently, People aren't starving because a lack of food...Infact there is enough food to feed 115% of the worlds population...they are starving because they don't have the money to buy the food that is available to them. To your debate: The thought of having the gov't control how many kids I can have, or if I can have any at all, is disturbing. And what would they do if someone has more than the amount allowed, would they kill the child, or imprison the parents (leaving the children without parents)? In China, the gov't wouldn't allow more than one child and because boys were more valued than girls, the girls were either killed or orphaned so the parents could try again...is this what we really want? A bit cruel, don't you think? |

i think it's starting to level out in alotta places... people are no longer having 5-10 children(they do but it's becoming more rare) and alot of families with 1 child.. i'd love to know the national average..... i know i only plan to have 1... and there are alot like me... i think there should be stricter rules to have children there are too many children in the world who get beaten and live in poverty |

The government has no right to make such decisions just as it has no right to pay welfare checks to irresponsible, lazy people. The two scenarios go hand in hand, here in the US. |

It would be very hard to make that happen. Let's just say it works on a "permit" type basis...i.e. a person wants to have a child and so must apply for a permit to have one. Now if that was the case the goverment must first be sure that EVERYONE is on a 100% effective birth control system that would prevent "accidents". That would mean ALL women once they hit childbearing age must have this birthcontrol "device". That would prevent the baby killing that happens in other places but would also be costly to either the girl or the goverment (pretty much us once again). It would also lead to laws being passed about WHO is eligible to have children. There are many politicians out there who think that a family unit consists of a mother and a father..not 2 females or 2 males...or a single parent. That would lead to even greater issues. It's not very viable in my opinion. |

I believe that if the population gets out of control in the future, the government will have no choice but to put a limit on how many children we have. I think 2 or 3 is plenty, IMO. unless of course you are adopting. I plan on having 1-2 at the most. Overpopulation is a real issue, and I think we will see some negative effects of it in our lifetime. |
