Well I am glad I am not the only one who feels this way...I thought about buyign her shorts and shirts the school colors and telling them that I cannot afford a school uniform but then she would fail and i dont want that to happen so I will buy the uniform and deal with it I dont really have any other option I guess |

Actually I think I would tell them to take their $25 bucks and shove it where the sun don't shine. Thats so crazy the more I think about it...I had to come back and post more and to fail a child because a parent doesn't have that kind of cash just lying around...ohhh I'm kind of livid at the situation for you... |

A "uniform" for PE?? GIMME A BREAK.. what do they need a uniform for? That's so stupid.. give me an old T-shirt and a pair of cheap shorts and I'm ready for PE.. it isn't a fashion show, it's GYM. |

Hi.. If you are concerned., I would ask for a school meeting expressing how you feel about this.. It seems rather outrageous to me, too especially since there are children who are having their uniforms stolen.. I would get some more parents together who feel as you do & then voice your opinions & feelings on the issue... T/C.... |

I was just coming back again to say that KY-Bluebird. I would meet with some of the other parents and try to get some sort of petition. To pay that kind of money when kids out grow clothes so fast is just plain crazy...I can't get this out of my head..its just crazy...lol...If they want everyone to look the same then let people buy the same color shorts and top at where they want cheaper. |

I know me too...I mean I could understand if the uniform was like 10 or 12 dollars but 25 and 30 dollars?? That is just to much for a uniform. When I went to high school they offered uniforms but they were not mandatory but my mom still had to buy me a special shirt and shorts to wear...they had to be our school colors gold and blue. I think she paid like 8 or 9 dollars for the whole outfit |

Ky-bluebird they have had those meetings before my sister went to the school after replacing my nephews uniform several times and there was no changes. I am sure I am not teh only parent who feels this way but it has been going on since the schoool opened about 6 or 7 years ago |

That's crazy! When I was in High School I was in MCJROTC and we had to dress out for our PT days but they provided the PT clothes. 50 bucks is to much to pay for clothes your daughter is going to sweat in and ruin anyway!!!<regretfulhalo> |

There's a word for this, Extortion. Been there myself, and didn't put up with it. Buy the shorts and T shirt in matching colors try and get other parents to do the same. Write a nice letter explaining what you are doing and why. Also note that failing a child in a class that is part of the regular State approved curiculum because you refused to purchase an overpriced article of clothing, is most likely illegal and a violation of ethics and you have no problem taking it to court. Schools hate lawsuits. |

You know I was thinking it bordered on extortion BCAR...I am going to talk to the teachers this Friday when we go to get her schedule and find out for sure if we have to purchase those uniforms cause even though we have the 25 dollars for a uniform if I can get it cheaper I would...anyone would I think |

Its ridiculous..I have two in High School, one in Middle School and one in Elementary school and the fees I have to pay for them are outrageous! The two that are in High School cannot join any extra-carricular activities because its $175.00 per activity!! |

OMG Lady Luck that is ridiculous...she also has to pay for her being in chorus and she has to bring in a ream of copy paper(I am guessing because they dont give the teachers enough so the teachers are asking each child to bring one in) |

I cannot believe they would actually charge that much money!! I understand about the not having enough money...I know some people can't afford to pay that much for uniforms...I don't see why they just can't let you bring a t-shirt and shorts to dress out in! |

file a complaint against the school saying that the uniforms SHOULD be cheaper closer to actual cost or don't spect people to HAVE to buy them.... people simply cannot afford to have to keep replacing uniforms at a inflated price |

We had uniforms, they were 2 bucks per piece or something... they had them so the kids could run around and get smelly then have something to change into... anyhow, you could buy the uniform, or you could wear shorts and a shirt with the same colors, now what I would do is go see if you can find any at the local thrift store, ours has a uniform section, saves money... |

Kethria I would but these uniforms are really chintzy to begin with after being worn for a year(or more in some cases they are really worn out) and not worth paying the 2 or 3 dollars for shirt and 1 dollar for the shorts(the local thrift store has a price of 99 cents for shorts and 1.99 to 2.49 for shirts) |

I could understand having a certain dress code, but it's unfair to make you pay that much for a PE uniform. I agree that she should be able to wear a t-shirt and shorts of the school colors. |

Yes, that IS ridiculous!! Sounds like MY stupid school...they don't make us buy PE uniforms, but their lunch prices are highway robbery. They charge $1.75 for a nasty hamburger when I can get a better one at McDonald's for 99 cents! All their candy bars are $1.00, and some of their pizza pockets are $2.50...for a freaking pizza pocket! Anyways, I'm with Rika...take it to the schoolboard. They have no right to make your kid buy some uniform when you can buy your own T-shirt and shorts for a lot less. Good luck |
