Does this make me a bad christian? *UCG*

I sent an email a few days ago to all of my friends with my testimony in it. In that I explained how even though I did accept Jesus a few years ago, I hadn't been living my life according to His will. I redeemed my heart with Him and am now on the right path. But today one of my non-christian friends brought up the point that wasn't I abusing Him by repenting after I sinned the same sin each time?? Does this make me a bad christian??

Date: 7/28/2003 6:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 40979    Are you asking if you're bad for repenting of the same sin over and over ? The answer can be yes and no. When you repent for a sin God takes it and throws it away. So if you do the same thing again you are already forgiven...But we still need to repent for it. Now if you sin and sin and sin and keep asking God to forgive yuo but you keep on doing it that is called " greasy grace" We take atvantage of it. Just because we will be forgiven does not mean we should keep on doing bad things.

Date: 7/28/2003 7:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 40979    you're NOT bad.
Date: 7/28/2003 7:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 11251    not bad, just human. remember this...Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven.
Date: 7/28/2003 7:51:00 PM  From Authorid: 42568    You're just human... what my mom would say for advice is to ask God for "strength" ...maybe he'll help you out
Date: 7/28/2003 8:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 15070    Honey, there are no "perfect" Christians. There are no "perfect" human beings. A good Christian? One who follows the example of Christ. Loving your fellow man. Acting with compassion. That is a "good" Christian. Remember, your own Bible warns about you trusting "Mammon" (Mankind). If you wonder about God, maybe you should pray, and ask your God. After all, you do believe He is the one who knows your heart, right? Peace & Love...

Date: 7/28/2003 9:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 34487    No, you're not a bad Christian. You're actually just like most Christians. No, it's not good for a Christian to continue to commit the same sins because they feel they can wipe the slate clean with forgiveness...I'll agree with your friend on that. In your case though, it sounds as if you're intentionally trying to change your life and trying not to make the same mistakes. Therefore, you're not abusing repentance and God's forgiveness.... your simply a Christian wrestling with your humanity. ~God bless
Date: 7/28/2003 10:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 57404    Ummm no it makes you human. lol I could see it if you sinned all the time, and knew you could repent, and thought about it before you did the sin.. but did the sin anyway because you knew you could repent for it. I think you are doing what ever Christian does. No one is perfect, God knows whats in your heart and your intentions.. not anyone else. God Bless
Date: 7/28/2003 11:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 55533    God gives second chances. Don't worry, we all are just humans. God accepts ALL apologies if they come straight from the heart.
Date: 7/29/2003 8:06:00 AM  From Authorid: 12835    There is NO Saint without a Past, nor a Sinner without a Future...
Date: 7/29/2003 8:10:00 AM  From Authorid: 15394    hmmmm bad christian.... hmmmmm... I can think of MANY examples of bad christians, but I don't think that following the doctrine of christianity, IE asking for forgiveness of shortcomings is bad, even if the "sin" is repeated... however, that is between you and your god, as to wether you think that your sins are actually repented against... that would be found only in your heart!
Date: 7/29/2003 8:56:00 AM  From Authorid: 16671    God tells us that the flesh wars against the spirit and the Spirit against the flesh. None of us are perfect, nor will we ever be. To me, to follow the will of God is to help people, feed the hungry, take care of the homeless, just help people in need. While we may have a loving and compassionate heart, in no way makes us less Christian if we stand up for our beliefs. God knows our hearts no one else does. The thing is we make mistakes. We may make the same mistake many times, but because of our God conscience, we ask again to be forgiven for the thing that we did. That is what makes us different as we KNOW the need for God to forgive us while some in life, feel they need no one to forgive anything that they do. But God says that he will forget our sin as far as the east is from the west, he will remember it NO MORE. Does that mean to sin? No it doesnt but praise God we have an advocate to help us when we do sin, and that is our Lord Jesus. Your not a bad christian, a bad christian is one that thinks , hehehe, I will just sin and then ask God to forgive me and all is good. To me that is premeditated sin and using God. Most times if your like any other christian, then you fight the thing that you end up doing, you fight it wholeheartly, but end up messing up again. Were not perfect, just saved.
Date: 7/29/2003 10:13:00 AM  From Authorid: 34487    FB said it so true. I've always felt that same with with regard to repentance. There is a big difference between "using God" and truly trying to change your behavior and repeatedly asking for forgiveness. Good point.
