i'm not sure, but if you can, call the place for where you got it or something... like for cable, we just call the cable company and they come out and fix it. hope you get it working! |

OK here's what you do.. go to "My Computer" and then "Control Panel". Click on "Network and Internet Connections". Click on "Network Connections". Under the heading "LAN or High-Speed Internet", right click on the "Local Area Connection" icon. Go to "Properties" and a window should pop up. Click on the tab labeled "Advanced" and at the top, it should say "Internet Connection Firewall". There should be a little checkbox and next to it, there will be a description. "Protect my computer and network.......". If the checkbox is clicked, the firewall is enabled. If not, it is not enabled. If you'd like to enable it, simply click on the checkbox and click "OK". |

your dad's router has a built-in firewall(NAT), it sounds like. What the router does is redirect your connection to the router's built-in ip addy, thus enabling you to have multiple connections off 1 subscribed connection. On yahoo messenger, you have options if you are behind a firewall or proxy connection. Thats the bad thing about messengers though, anyone you are talking to, usually has a straight-unchecked, connection to you. Thats what brings out the booterz programs, etc. i dont have msn messenger, i disabled it, but maybe inside the messenger, you can adjust the settings, like yahoo's can. If you want to check your comp's security go to http://www.grc.com do the port probe, etc. Also check out your connection settings, if he has it set up as a Lan connection, etc. |
