Yes, I have Verizon Online DSL at 1.5 MBPS and am very pleased with it. While it is a bit slower than my previous cable internet connection was at peak hours, overall its much faster because you don't have to share your bandwidth with other subscribers! It's a dedicated line.  |

DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line. For those of you who don't know what DSL is at all DSL is a dedicated (not shared like Cable - always yours), always-on, high speed digital internet connection provided to you over a regular telephone line without tying up your phone line. DSL is very similar to T1, T3, and ISDN (connections you would find at your place of work or possibly your school) but has little in common with cable. |

i dont have it but we have satellite at my house. the companys all say that it's not availible in our area yet... cuz we live down a long highway that leads into the middle of nowhere. yeah, and the last house on the highway that can get dsl or cable is like, the 3rd house on the highway, and that's where the line cuts off and so it's not avaible to us yet... i doubt it ever will be.  |

You can get 7.1 mbps ADSL for about $200 a month. That's fast enough to download nearly a megabyte every second. The only downside is the upload speed would most likely be limited to 768 kbps. But you can get that up to 1.5 mbps (T1 upload speed). SDSL however has download and upload speeds which are the same: up to 2.3 mbps up and down and for prices still much cheaper than T1 and quite a bit faster. |

DSL is costly here. And they limit your time as well. My cousin uses it for movie downloads and progam donloads butt never for surfing. He uses the dial up for that. I have Dial up. Cable is here but everytime it rains it goes out. That isnt worth the trouble there for me. And most parts of NC dont have have cable and outside of town the cable isnt hardley used anyways. It is in a state of disrepair. But most everyone I know here in my neck of the woods is dial-up.  |

Cable here. Cancel your cable tv. Put a splitter on before your modem and receive cable internet and cable tv for the price of just the modem.  |

I did have a cable modem through my cable company..unfortunately I had to give it up temporarily as I will be going back to school soon and only working 2 days a week, so $50 a month was a little much for the time being.  |
