Trail Creek in this peaceful canyon is a deserted area haunted by the ghosts of settlers moving west after the Civil War. The sounds of whips and wagon wheels rolling over the steep hills sometimes last for hours. Barking dogs, crying babies, laughing children, and busy people shouting commands at one another are heard along the trail. Sheepherders, tree cutters, and campers have all heard the preternatural sounds. The canyon is named after a man who built a stone cabin in the mountains and charged outlaws a high price to hide out there. Reed died in 1900, but the ruins of his house remains. Ojitos Mesa in the canyon area is a location of ferquent reports.Same source,p.282. 33 DEGREE How it changed my life:So much for peace and quite camping in the "Old West".
