First National Aloha Shirt Day < WildBob >

A couple of weeks ago I posted about starting a new national holiday. Since then, I've put up flyers where I work and it's created quite a buzz. I put up the flyers on a weekend when no one was here so there was an element of mystery about it.

Sounds like I'm going to get pretty good participation. So here the info from my last post so you can be one of the few people to participate in the first annual National Aloha Shirt Day ( woops I almost left out a r)

New Holiday

That’s right, I’ve decided to start my own new national holiday. It will be on the fourth Friday of July each year. It will be called National Aloha Shirt Day.

All you need to do to participate in this new holiday is wear a Hawaiian Shirt. I chose Friday for this holiday because many companies have casual Fridays. I wanted a Holiday that was easy to celebrate was non-denominational and was inclusive.

The advantages of National Aloha Shirt Day are a total lack of requirements that can stress people out on other Holidays. You don’t have to purchase gifts for people and worry about whether or not they will like them. You may or may not get together with relatives, that’s totally up to you. It is a low cost holiday; all you need is a Hawaiian shirt or other piece of tropical clothing. You don’t have to prepare a big meal. Once again this is totally optional. The way you choose to celebrate National Aloha Shirt Day is totally up to you. The purpose is to have fun. That’s it.

So, get ready the first occurrence of National Aloha Shirt Day will occur a week from Friday. I just wanted to give all of USM a head start on something that is sure to sweep the nation.

So I am encouraging people to put up flyers at work or school announcing this new Holiday in time that they can say that they celebrated the first National Aloha Shirt Day.

So remember the National Aloha Shirt Day’s motto… “Speak quietly and wear a loud shirt”
