I am so nervous! I am getting all 4 of them taken out, and the keep telling me that I am going to be in large amounts of pain, and I am not one to deal with pain. Well, to a certain extent at least. Hopefully, I'll just come home tomorrow and sleep the rest of the day. What do I do to ease my nervousness! Im going crazy!

Date: 7/24/2003 11:53:00 AM  From Authorid: 58611    Its not soo bad! Really! I heard all kinds of horror stories about it before I had mine done and it was nothing like what I had heard! It is smart to get them all out at once though, instead of prolonging the ordeal. You wont be able to eat alot for a few days so I hope you like soup and ice cream!
Date: 7/24/2003 12:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 58078    I had mine taken out...I had three impacted and one pulled. They gave me prescriptions for the pain one was an antibiotic for infections and the other a pain killer. I started getting an allergic reaction taking the two together I was very itchy so I stopped taking the pain ones...they weren't helping anyway cause advil helped me alot more then the prescription for the pain. My brother made fun of me cause I looked like that godfather cause my face swelled. But I was bad with icing it. Just make sure to keep cold compresses on your face. They will also give you a shot or two in your butt...at least I got them.
Date: 7/24/2003 12:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 58078    AquaRose is right though...It might sound bad but its not as bad as people say with the horror stories. You will be just fine. don't be nervous.
Date: 7/24/2003 12:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 1799    arrrr... lol. i have mine taken out this year.. and ugh, it hurt badly.. of course, they had to go into the bone in order to pull out 2 of mine, and all were impacted. after a while, u don't even notice it happens.. just um.. lets see.. don't drink anything hot for 48 hours afterwards, only clear liquids for 6 hours after surgery... and put ice on your face to keep down the swelling.. the less swelling, the less pain. and keep medicine near by..lol. as for being nervous.. well, nothing can help with that..lol. i was almost hysterical when they were strapping me down to the table to knock me out for surgery..lol. but u'll be happy once its done!
Date: 7/24/2003 12:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 1799    Andrea.. lol. they didn't give me the those shots in the butt..lol.
Date: 7/24/2003 12:51:00 PM  From Authorid: 62222    Are they putting you under for this or are you just getting local anestetic?<regretfulhalo>
Date: 7/24/2003 12:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 43214    Yikes! Good luck *hugs* They're starting to talk to me about taking my wisdom teeth. Let us know how it goes
Date: 7/24/2003 1:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 46527    I had all mine taken out at once too, it really is the best way. One tip I will give you is to make sure you try and sleep propped up for the next few nights, lying flat will make your face swell more. Keep applying icepacks to your jaw and keep up the painkillers, don't be surprised if you get quite a bit of bruising.
Date: 7/24/2003 1:12:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 42522    Im getting novacaine and I.V sedation.
Date: 7/24/2003 1:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 57404    I had 2 of mine removed and actually it doesn't hurt that bad... Of course my dentist gave me like 3 shots. lol He went to pull the wisdom tooth and I was like.. oh no.. I can feel it and it smarts. So he gave me another shot and came back in and removed them and I didn't feel a thing. I was a little sore but that was about it. God Bless
Date: 7/24/2003 2:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    you getting it done in a doc office or are the gonna actually put you under?? i went to the hospital for "dental surgery" to get mine taken out... i wasen't in too much pain... but a nice little bit... they gave me T3's though.... the pain quickly went away my ONLY ISSUE was being unable to eat....but hey this is an excuse to have as much chocolate and milkshakes as you want!!
Date: 7/24/2003 3:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 62222    I had to be put out because I couldn't handle the idea of someone standing over me..pulling out stuff. When I was done I had to go like 4 hours w/o pain medication cause they didn't want to give codeine to a 17 year old. I was in pain, but I don't think that's a standard problem.<regretfulhalo>
Date: 7/24/2003 3:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 32193    most of the time at least here, its called oral surgery and youre knocked out lol
Date: 7/24/2003 5:15:00 PM  From Authorid: 53013    Ouchies! I had mine taken out one at a time, I couldn't imagine having them all out at once. As for the nervousness I can't help I usually get sick before I have to go to the dentist...even for a check up...I am a whimp!
Date: 7/24/2003 5:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 15677    eat now an get full an rest up ) I feel for ya
Date: 7/24/2003 5:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 8278    i had all 4 taken out along with my 2 back molars (sp) i am not going to lie to you...it HURT!! i did come home and sleep all day after though. lol. my problem was they stitched me up wrong and it didn't heal for weeks. i had to go back in and have it fixed. after that it was easy. do not drink out of a straw!! just be very careful and it should heal up fast. i was a nervous wreck when i had mine done too. but it isn't as bad as you expect. best of luck to you. ((hugs))
Date: 7/24/2003 6:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 56293    My friend just had hers done and she said it wasn't as bad as she thought it was going to be. She was given plenty of painkillers tho to ease the pain. You'll be fine!
Date: 7/24/2003 6:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 62221    It won't be as bad as you think. I was very nervous as well, but it really wasn't all that bad. The hardest part for me was eating enough food to take the antibiotic. I kept getting sick because I didn't have enough food in me. It was bad. But that pain wasn't that bad. Make sure you ice alot. Good Luck! *Brown Eyed Angel*
Date: 7/24/2003 7:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 6003    Try not to get too upset about it. It's something most all of us have to go thru. Andrea has some good advise. I had to have all of mine cut out too because they were all impacted and I had to have antibiotics first because one was infected. They gave me Tylenol with codine which helped with the after pain alot. My son had 7 wisdom teeth, which all had to be cut out too. I would go with nitrous oxide instead of novacaine. I had novacaine and was awake during the whole thing, and my son had nitrous and of couse was asleep during the whole procedure.
Date: 7/25/2003 12:29:00 AM  From Authorid: 46527    Good Luck for today, hope all goes well. It's only a few days discomfort out of the rest of your life, look at it that way and it won't seem half as bad.....hugggggsss
