Date: 7/23/2003 1:51:00 PM From Authorid: 36757 i could be wrong, but i thought it's a law that says you can't hire someone because of race, disability, their record etc... i don't know i'm probably wrong. well there's a guy who used to work where i work and he was charged for molestation. he also works for a company... like they come to the store and stock their product and leave... anyway, he doesn't work where i work anymore, but he DOES come to the store to stock his stuff. like i think he should be able to get back into society, but maybe somehow people should know... i mean like you said, he shouldn't wear a big sign on himself or that... but i dunno... |
Date: 7/23/2003 1:52:00 PM From Authorid: 10722 He brought it on himself, he broke the law and now must live with his mistake. And to answer your question, absolutely NOT. |
Date: 7/23/2003 1:52:00 PM From Authorid: 15070 No-never-pedophiles are NEVER rehabilitated. They are never "cured". All we can hope for is they never "re-offend". I will have to find the actual stats, but for every victim we find from a pedophile, there are like 4 more ubdiscovered from the same person. I cannot, will not EVER be of a forgiving nature when it comes to pedophiles. I would be the Mom to chase him from town-to-town. I am dead serious. |
Date: 7/23/2003 2:02:00 PM From Authorid: 46530 I wasn't involved in a paedophilic relationship, but was involved in an abusive one as a child. I was removed from that relationship and that person was never taken to court for it. Said person went on to have another relationship where a child of similar age was involved with no repeat of the abuse. There ARE some that change and there are some that don't repeat, but when the courts have been involved they should be obliged to watch these people carefully. This should involve monitoring their phone lines, internet communications and tracking of their movements (Easy enough with todays vehicle tracking systems). If they re-offend, then throw away the key, but they should be given a chance. |
Date: 7/23/2003 6:26:00 PM From Authorid: 53900 NO they should not...whether that boy has moved on this is going to forever effect him even if he has forgiven teh guy. You cannot regain your innocense and that is exactly what those people who make the decision to molest a child takes. He/she leaves that child to bare a life sentence and they expect to go back to living a normal life? WHY??? Why should they be allowed to ever forget what they did? Why should they be able to live a normal productive life when they did not allow that child the same luxury? |
Date: 7/23/2003 6:29:00 PM From Authorid: 53900 Ad/Farley would you like to be that child who is the one victimized when he/she reoffends? Would you like for your daughter or son to be the one who is the victim? I know what it is like to live through that and it is a nightmare. |
Date: 7/23/2003 6:57:00 PM From Authorid: 24924 I stand in agreement with LSG on this issue. Pedophiles cannot be rehabilitated. It is the same as asking a homosexual to stop his desire for relations with other homosexuals. It can't be done. |

Put them in Prison for life. There are reasons why a Pedophile can't be rehabilitated(Or atleast it will be very difficult to). Those old men in thier 40s,50s, forget it, it is basically too late for them. Those that are Pre-Teen sex-offenders, like 10,11,12,13 years old, and yes kids that young can abuse kids too. That age you can do something about. All you can do is to keep people from crossing that line, which is very difficult to do. Get rid of Pornagraphy, Sex-Education in the Public Schools, these sexy adds on TV, is what is making sex-offenders on the rise. The did studies, the schools that had the Sex-Ed programs, with handing out condoms, etc, have more pregnacies, more sexuality active kids, and more Rapes from these schools, than those that don't. Porngraphy, is also a contribute, when sexaul images get into a person's head, it is impossible to get rid of the image, and then he acts on the image. Alot of sex offenders will say that Pornagraphy is what took them on the path they are on. (I am not saying that these people don't need to take responsiblity, because they do). Sex, unless it is in marriage, is dangerous, and can destroy society, and many communities. I am not saying that Opose Megan's Law or the Amber Alert, because I am supportive of these, but to say that these laws will stop sex-crimes, is kinda like saying the cure for AIDS and other dieases is to build cemetaries. You need to put proper values in the schools, and in TV, and to educate the Proper values in the schools. Like I said before, you can't do anything about those who already cross the line, but we can keep people from crossing the line. |
Date: 7/23/2003 7:20:00 PM From Authorid: 36967 I am NOT saying that everyone who looks at pornagraphy will be a child molestor, I am not saying that everyone who sits through sex-education is a child molestor, I am not saying that at all, because to think such thing will be very unfair and very unwise. But many sex-offenders have stated that their path to this way came through Pornagraphy or sex-ed, and some the movies that hollywood does. I know people who work in Prison, my Pastor will even go preach in prison, they all can confirm what I am saying is true. |

Well people could give him a second chance but he wont get a 3rd chance thats for sure. Ok we all make mistacks and maybe he will not do it agine but be careful. He did it 15 years ago after all and he has not done it a second time so he may not it agine. *Cosmic Freak* |
Date: 7/24/2003 6:52:00 AM From Authorid: 15394 I think the statement that child molesters began by viewing pornography is bogus... I would bet rather that the pornography was secondary to their own internal urges... jmo |
Date: 7/24/2003 12:36:00 PM From Authorid: 14407 Child molestation isen't about lust, its about power. They do it cuz they feel week inside. So they gratify their ego by having power over an innocent child. This case seems a little ridiculous to me. If the 16yo consented, in my state that wouldn't even be a crime. He only did it once, I think he should be forgiven. And I think everone should get a chances at rehabilitation. 2 chances? No. I think it also depends on the sevarity of the assult and the number and age of the victims. Like I saw this guy on TV who molested 72 kids between the ages of 7-10. He should never see the light of day. But one 16yo 15 years ago, thats a totally diffrent crime and I wouldn't even put these guys in the same catagory. |
Date: 7/24/2003 1:45:00 PM From Authorid: 36967 In PA age of consent is 16, but you must over 18 to be charged with statory rape. |
Date: 7/24/2003 8:17:00 PM From Authorid: 22080 i think if the fact that theres a small chance someone is innocent they should be allowed back in society, as long as they arent working with kids |
Date: 7/24/2003 8:19:00 PM From Authorid: 22080 derek, where do you get your statistics |
Date: 7/24/2003 8:39:00 PM From Authorid: 47218 the fact is, if they're out and looking for a job, they're *already* back in society. So the question is, if you don't want to offer these people a legitimate means to support themselves, what are the alternatives? Having them wander from place to place as homeless vagrants? Or turning to crime? Goodness knows, neither of these options would help with their rehabilitation. Might make them even more of it threat... |
