Today's bible study comes from Deuteronomy 20, 22 & 23. I hope you will join me as I take a look at these verses and hear the Lord's word in your heart and being if it is not there already.
Deuteronomy 20:1-4
1 When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, becaue the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, will be with you.
2 When you are about to go into battle, the priest shall come forward and address the army.
3 He shall say: "Hear O Isreal, today you are going into battle against your ememies. Do not be fainthearted or afraid; do not be terrified or give way to panic before them.
4 For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.
I know the war they say is OVER in Iraq. Yet we see death of those dying in battle almost every single day. Have no fear for the Lord will take care of you as well as your enemies. I can appreciate these verses a lot being in the military myself, it gives me strength to know that He is there at all times including the times that we go to war. We must have no fear and have confidence in God. If we are fearful of anything that lies ahead pray for the strength, courage and faithfullness that will cast out all fear. When you have God in your life and recieve the Holy Spirit there is nothing like it in this world. He walks with us and fights our battles pyhsical and emotional battles. He has the power to do all things. There is nothing like Him. Praise you God and thank you.
Deuteronomy 22:1-5
1 If you see your brother's ox or sheep straying, do not ignore it but be sure to take it back to him.
2 If the brother does not live near you or you do not know who he is, take it home with you and keep it until he comes looking for it. Then give it back to him.
3 Do the same if you find your brother's donkey or his cloak or anything he loses. Do not ignore it.
4 If you see your brother's donkey or his ox fallen on the road, do not ignore it. Help him get to his feet.
5 A woman must not wear man's clothing, nor a man wear woman's clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this.
We are all brothers and sisters. Do not steal if you find an item that does not belong to you, return it to the owner if that person is known or take it to the respectable place where the owner can find their belongings. Animals deserve care and do not need to be neglected, if you are able to take an animal into your resisdence do so if you find a stray. Place an ad in the paper call the Humane Society in your area and let them know that you have an animal in case someone is searching for it. Do the right thing, be an honest person. What would you want someone to do if you misplaced an item of yours and you cannot find it?? You would want to be able to redeem it yes, as it belong to you, right. Treat others with the same respect that you wish to be treated.
Deuteronomy 23:1,15-25
1 No one who has been emasculated by crushing or cutting may enter the assembly of the Lord.
15 If a slave has taken refuge with you, do not hand him over to his master.
16 Let him live among you wherever he likes and in whatever town he chooses. Do not oppress him.
17 No Isrealite man or woman is to become a shrine prostitute.
18 You must not bring the earnings of a female prostitute or of a male prostitute into the house of the Lord your God to pay any vow, because the Lord your God detests them both.
19 Do not charge your brother interest, whether money or food or anything else that may earn interest.
20 You may charge a foreigner interest, but not a brother Isrealite, so that the Lord your God may bless you in everything you put your hand to in the land you are entering to possess.
21 If you make a vow to the Lord your God, do not be slow to pay it, for the Lord your God will certainly demand it of you and you will be guilty of sin.
22 But if you refrain from making a vow, you will not be guilty.
23 Whatever your lips utter you must be sure to do, because you made a vow freely to the Lord with your own mouth
24 If you enter your neighbor's vineyard, you may eat all the grapes you want, but do not put any in your basket.
25 If you enter your neighbor's grainfield, you may pick kernals with your hands, but you must not put a sickle to his standing grain.
I started with the verses about slaves and how the Lord wished that they be treated, it does not mean that they were treated that way the way the Lord wished them to be treated, in due time they did recieve their freedom that was ordained by God.
No one shall be a prostitute and be in the body of Christ. The body is the Lord's temple and selling yourself is not how the Lord wants you treat yourself along with your body.
The Lord wants you to help those that are in need. Do not look to gain something more for helping your brother and sister out. They are not a stranger among you. Our creditors and loan companies are strangers. Do they charge interest. They sure do, because we are strangers to them we are unknown to them. I never thought that interest is in His will.
When you speak or promise to God, a stranger a friend that you will do something you are also making a vow unto the Lord. Failing to do so is sin.
Do not steal from one another, the Lord talks about stealing several times in the bible. Do not steal, eat from the fruit of the tree yet do not take any when you leave from there.
I hope you enjoyed today's bible study, I hope that you will join me next time. You have a blessed day.
