Lady Luck! Here are a few triks that I have learned. As far as the puddles and land mines go. Get some vinigar, and everytime there is a puddle, spray some vinagar on it, rub his nose in it, tell him NO in a firm voice and put him outside. He will think that he is making that smell, and realize that it stinks. Then everytime he does his business outside, tell him what a good boy he is while he is doing it...ie: "Good poop".There has to be a distinct voice that you use when he is bad. Don't yell, just firm! When he bites or nips tell him "NO" as soon as he does it or if you can see that he is about to. Does he have a stuffed animal by chance. Put either that or his favorite toy in his mouth when he bites. And well, the cat...My suggestion is let the cat and the dog battle that one out. The cat will get him good and hopefully he will learn. I hope this helps. Kel |

he should be easier to train than most LUCKY YOU! As soon as he wakes up, take him outside. Take him outside about 30 min after each meal. PRAISE HIM!! Make it seem like its the best thing he has ever done. If you see him going to the bathroom on the carpet....or floor, just pick him up, and he will stop and put him outside. |

I have only had Cats but some of the training tips might work...maybe. As far as house training...we got our cat to use the litter box by showing her the spot she "went" at (giving her a chance to sniff it) and then putting her in her box. After that first time we didn't have any problems with that. We got her to stop biting by spraying her with a water bottle. It doesn't hurt them, just annoys the mess out of them. Most of the time that works, but sometimes it's just their age. Try buying a good chew toy. It is possible that the puppy is teething and needs to chew on something. As far as the puppy messing with the cat...I'm not sure there is anything that can be done about that..lol. |

I can only help you with the potty training. The vet had told us to put our puppy in a kennel, just big enough to sleep. The only time to you take him out is to put him outside, then it's back in the kennel. Make sure to praise him and give him a treat when he is done with his business. Do this for about two weeks, a puppy will not go where he sleeps. I know it sounds mean, and his is sooo cute that you want to play with him, but it really works. |

consistency consistency consistency.... every time he starts to squat, pick him up and put him outside.... my dog was an older puppy and he was raised ina abarn so he could go where ever he wanted... thought the same when we got him.... make sure .. everytime... he is put out to do it... also as soon as he eats and right after you play with him,, put him outside... and praise him when he does his business outside.... As for the biting and nipping.... when he does it... roll him on his back, and straddle him.... hold him so he cant move and stare him in the eyes... do not look away... let him know who is boss.... let him struggle and keep staring him down.... he will eventually go limp and look away... submissing.... all the time... tell him... NO BITING!!... consistency with this pays off too... if he snaps or gets too agressive... repeat this... he needs to know who is boss from the beginning... you must play alpha in the house... |

OMG Lady Luck..I am in the same exact boat as you are with my puppy. Except for the cat part because we don't have a cat. I walk down the hall and my puppy is constantly jumping at the back of my legs bitting my pants as I'm walking and she usually gets some skin as well. And the training has its moments as well. So when you find out ... pleaseeee let me know...lol. My puppy will be a year in September. Shes a shih-tzu. |

first of all potty traing starts by the water and food supply. if you feed him only once a day when you are home and put him right outside for about a half an hour. and when he goes give him a treat. only give him water three or four times when your able to put him out and treat him. that will eliminate some of if. for the rest of the time watch him if you think he needs to go put him out if he goes treat him again. if he goes in the house you show him tell him no you go outside and then put him out but don't treat him. at night then use the kennel, a puppy needs to feel like he belongs with you not in the kennel. he'll come around and start going to the door and asking to go out.you'll see.sugar-n-spice |
