Chakras...Could you answer a few questions about them?

I ahve been studying on how to see auras and I have read alot of articles tha said things about chakras. I am confused as to what they are, and how they help people see auras. I also heard that keeping them clean helps u see auras better. So I believe that I will have more sucess in seeing auras if I know what chakras are and what I have to do with them.
