3 part question....not a big thinking one!........B. Monkey

The houseflies are a bit too annoying lately so when I go to the grocery store tomorrow I am going to buy that fly paper so that they will get caught. One always seems to make it into my room and buzz in my face while I sleep. Well I was thinking about it, where would I look for that in the grocery store? And that brought up a memory to back I guess 5 years ago or so. Kroger (for people who don't know, that is a grocery store chain) used to have on their shopping carts little computers where you pressed the button to find your item! This was really short lived. Here are my 3 questions.

#1. Does anybody remember these computers?

#2. What do you call the shopping carts? I personally call them buggies, some people laugh at that, and when I used to work at Kroger ages ago one of my supervisors called it a Bascart? the only time I've heard that!

#3. What chains do you have in your area? Me, when I am in college there is Foodlion, and Bi-Lo or the good ol' Super Wal-Mart, aka Walley World. At home there is Publix and Kroger.

sort of another question for those in other countries or regions of the U.S. what do you call "grocery stores" if you don't call it that?

Date: 6/29/2003 1:30:00 AM  From Authorid: 36901    Yes, I remember the computers. I too call them buggies. Kroger and Super Wal-Mart (it's funny because people laugh at me for calling it that. I say super walmart and they always tell me HEY..It's Wal-Mart Super Center) lol.
Date: 6/29/2003 8:33:00 AM  From Authorid: 54987    I'd like to comment on the fly paper. I tried on and it kept getting stuck in my hair. They inevitably slowly descend and hang down and catch things that they're not meant to.. like my face. Have you ever tried to rip a fly paper off your face. It's worse when there are flies on it. A good swatter is a better investment. Also, my cat is an expert fly catcher.
Date: 6/29/2003 4:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    well being canadian i'm surrounded by safeway save on costco thriftys great canadian superstore and great canadian wholesale store and a few local island stores i tend to call the shopping cart just a cart and i never saw those little built on computers it sounds like a great idea but i gues they couldnt be left out in the rain and people stealing them cound get very pricey!
