The whiskey's getting warm.
Tis an hour until daylight.
Aye! It's the "calm before the storm."
A feed bag for the charger-
A spot of water, to-
A minute with the whetstone-
Sharpen that dagger, you!
Some prayer-words to a deity-
Oh Lord! Protect me please.
With dawn comes such grave danger-
Oh! Hear me in my need!
With the sun-up comes such anger-
Oh! So awful is my rage.
Some "mother's son" must pay the price,
for mistakes someone else has made.
Cousin Bill's, five men to the left.
The barber's son is two-
We pass "white brother" down the line..
and say our fond farewells
