Having a High IQ....isn't everything!!!!!!...........Zema

Another one to share with you all...

Brains are important. But they are not enough. Some of the brainiest people are also the dumbest when it comes to social skills. We all know people who are highly intelligent, but can't look you in the eye or hold up their end of a conversation.

Research into qualities that make high achievers in business are now revealing the IQ is far less important than EQ. EQ is about emotional intelligence - the ability to know what you and others are feeling, to build relationships, resolve conflicts and bound back from stress.

FOOTNOTE:

Yes, I know quite a few people in this category...I know of one guy who headed a large company and whenever you spoke to him in passing, even if to just say good morning, he would blush and speak incoherently, you could never understand his answer...I'm sure lots of you out there, have come across this same situation in your lifetime....

Luv and Peace....Zema

Date: 6/28/2003 8:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 25390    For the most part, I think I was blessed with both IQ and EQ capabilities. However, sometimes my common sense and social skills tend to fly out the window for a moment or two. But you are exactly right. Some people with a very high IQ lack high numbers of EQ or even common sense.
Date: 6/28/2003 9:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 14464    thats not always true! my brother has a high IQ and has a great EQ. He's one of those guy who is great at like everything where i am one that sux at everything :P!
Date: 6/29/2003 12:45:00 AM  From Authorid: 60018    My unlces got an IQ off the charts and yet has no people skills what-so-ever. He was poking fun at me b/c I got a 25 on my ACT's (not at bad score at all) and he got a 32. Then I told him that at least I could hold a convo with someone. I don't think he was to happy
Date: 6/29/2003 5:49:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 42945    thanks Pink Bunny!! thats great you having a high EQ, and can have a decent conversation with people you meet....also thanks to Oddsmell!!! I believe it to be quite true hun, I worked with highly intelligent people who couldnt even look at you, let alone hold a sensible conversation...thanks Ghostlover, your brother would be one of the exceptions hun and good luck to him for being so fortunate....Thanks PB hun, I find it so strange that these really intelligent people can't naturally be more upfront in the EQ department...bright and all as they may be, maybe a course in social skills would be good for them...lol!!! hugs to you all for your great comments
