ok, a few months ago, my big bro and i found a bunch of alchohol bottles in my lil bro's room. (he's waaay under age). this isnt the first time we've had this problem with him. but my parents were a few states away because my mother is sick. they were at mayo clinnic and they were both thouroughly stressed out, so my brother and i decided not to tell them YET. so my big bro and i put our lil bro on a grounding for a month and the plan was we'd tell our parents when the illness issue blew over. well, i didnt properly dispose of the bottles, and they were discovered by no one else but, MY PARENTS. now i'm getting all the blame for not telling them and i dont think it's fair for a # of reasons. #1, my other brother was involved in not telling too #2 i was only trying to help the illness situation and i was copletley planning on telling #3, I WASNT THE UNDERAGE DRINKER!!!! tell me what you think i should do. please, i could use some advice. peace. >shady lady<

Date: 6/28/2003 3:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 49037    That IS unfair. It seems like you were only trying to do what was best for your parents, but they might not see it that way at first glance. I"m sure they care about their kids so much, and what happens to you, that they can't understand that you were just trying to protect them from extra worry at that time. I'd say sit down and talk with them, explaining all the things you wrote above. At the very least, they should see that your older brother should be held responsible as well. Good luck.
Date: 6/28/2003 3:15:00 PM  From Authorid: 62237    All you can really do is tell your parents the truth. I know with my own kids they get in MUCH less trouble if they tell the truth. Hope this helps. WolfBit
Date: 6/28/2003 3:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 13119    take it from your parents side for a minute, your mom is sick your dad is stressed they come home and find a bunch of alcohol bottles in a young son's room. They probably thought that you were hiding it. Sit down with them and explain what's what.
Date: 6/28/2003 3:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 53013    Sit your parents down and explain to them what happened, and your reasoning for not telling them..yet. Try to get them to hear you out, and if they choose not to...then take the punishment..I know that it's not fair but blowing up and adding more stress probably isn't the best thing to do right now either. Good luck! ~gentlehugs~
Date: 6/28/2003 4:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    well when you told them did you whine? yell and scream(not accusing you of doing it) try to explain in a calm adult voice what happened and get your big bro to tell them also what you told them
Date: 6/28/2003 6:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 29532    I think you should have told them IMMEDIATELY. Ilness or no illness, drinking is a bad idea, especially if he is so young. This could really harm him in a way you wouldn't imagine. Kida do not know fully about alcohol. They do stupid things. It can kill them. I should know. At a young age I got ahold of a large bottle of Jack. I drank the whole thing, straight, all by myself. I almost died of alcohol poisoning. Not because I wanted to...but because I did not know fully what could happen to someone who had too much to drink. I didn't even fully understand what alcohol was.....
Date: 6/28/2003 8:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 62146    Yes this is not fair have you tryed explaining to them yet they should understand once you explain to them.
