I Find This Ludicrous ¤Frankenstein¤

An Indiana man is suing a restaurant which he claims sold him a sandwich covered in blood.

Charles Schapson says he purchased the roast beef sandwich in February of last year from Arby's restaurant.

The 43 year old said he didn't notice the blood until he had eaten the entire sandwich.

"I looked down at my hand and my hand is covered in blood, the wrapper is covered in blood," he said.

When he returned to the restaurant he confronted the manager and an employee who he claims had fresh bandages on his hand, reports the Indianapolis Star.

Schapson said he still has the blood-stained wrapper in his freezer. He said he feared for his health and that of his wife, who was pregnant at the time.

He's seeking unspecified damages for injury, medical expenses, mental anguish and pain and suffering.

John Gray, a senior vice president with the RTM Restaurant Group, said: "Food safety is paramount. We don't know all the facts yet. If there's something, we need to look into it and find out what happened."

Story filed: 09:20 Thursday 26th June 2003

***So, the guy suddenly decides that a sandwich he ate at a fast food place almost TWO years ago might have been tainted? Heck, I can't even remember what I ate last Tuesday! I think it's foolish that the courts would ever even entertain this sort of nonsense. It's obvious that the sandwich didn't fill him up. Now, he's hungry for money and nothing more. This story is a load of crap. Never mind the fact that he says that he claims to have not noticed any blood until after he had eaten the ENTIRE THING. Then, the wrapper and the sandwich were somehow dripping in blood? What a crock! They should throw that joker's butt in a penitentiary for a while. That's just my opinion.

I guess I should have made a fuss about it and started freaking out and saying I'm gonna sue their behinds. But I guess I'll wait for nearly two years while I scheme.
Date: 6/26/2003 2:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 46069    yeah.. its gross... but after 2 years if it ain't killed him.. i think he will be fine!

Date: 6/26/2003 2:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 46137    I can't believe what people would do for money these days. What's wrong going to work is not good anymore. I can't stand lazy people who binge off our taxes and decide it's not good enough. Hope he loses and get's his ass thrown in jail for stupidity.

Date: 6/26/2003 3:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 14754    That why i dont eat at Arbys
Date: 6/26/2003 3:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 46527    He does indeed sound rather greedy. Reading through the replies here I have to say that the reason I rarely eat ready prepared food is the disgusting rubbish that finds it's way into the stuff!
Date: 6/26/2003 3:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 44321    First of all you would notice the blood before eating,I always check everything out before I eat.And if it was that bloody how did he not taste it?and why is he suing now,not back then? can you say greedy jerk?
Date: 6/26/2003 3:40:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    Vicki, there's nothing wrong with Arby's. The man is just lazy and greedy.
Date: 6/26/2003 3:41:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    Medusa, you're right on the money here, sis.
Date: 6/26/2003 4:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 36901    That's just stupid. If he is being truthful, who in the heck wouldn't notice that right away? I don't trust Arby's because I have gotten 2 sandwiches that had blood from the meat. The bread was a pink color on the inside from it. I gave them a second chance, but you can bet they won't get a third. BTW, this was also in Indiana. I used to eat there in Texas all the time and never had any complaints.
Date: 6/26/2003 4:25:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    I just read back over my commentary on this news item. I'm wondering if maybe I should have been an attorney. I think I have a darned good argument here.
Date: 6/26/2003 4:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    americans are sue happy.... any way to make an easy buck!

Date: 6/26/2003 5:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 35720    Wow.. my comment got deleted.. thanks.. *rolls eyes*
Date: 6/26/2003 6:48:00 PM  From Authorid: 62221    You are totally right. What is this guy trying to do? Sounds like an idiot, but that's just my opinion. *Brown Eyed Angel*
Date: 6/26/2003 6:59:00 PM  From Authorid: 6915    It was probably ketchup......
Date: 6/26/2003 8:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 177    What's wrong with Arbys? During the past month I've been going there and going for their five regular roast beef sandwiches for 5.99 deal. I love 'em, although I can hardly walk on my way out...but that could be because I also drink a large soft drink with a couple refills. Hmmmmm, maybe I could sue the pants off of Arbys; after all it's all their fault that I eat too many of their delicious sandwiches and cold, refreshing pop....uh...right? Excuse me I'm on my way back to Arbys right now.
Date: 6/26/2003 8:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 177    PS: Oh yeah, I attribute my diabetes to all of those fast-food joints. It's all their fault, I tell you...all their fault. Just like it's the fault of those darn tobacco companies for making the poor, innocent, victims of their product smoke all those cigarettes. I mean reallY!
Date: 6/26/2003 9:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 42945    he wishes!!!!!! hugs
Date: 6/27/2003 1:29:00 AM  From Authorid: 62066    Something tells me this guy needs educating in the differences between ketchup and blood. Money hungry in my opinion.
Date: 6/27/2003 11:40:00 AM  From Authorid: 22721    Idiot! Why are there so many lazy bums who want free money and lots of attention ?
Date: 6/28/2003 5:39:00 AM  From Authorid: 23037    well sadly enough ,the reason people get by with these claims is because the insurance company finds it easier to offer some money than to fight it. this called setteling out of court. people know this is an aesy way to get some fast cash. i say fight these idiots in court more often and it will stop or at least slow down.
Date: 6/28/2003 1:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 54247    Cannot believe you wouldn't notice blood on a sandwich wrapper ??? Agree that we are getting to sue-happy over nothing. RAT
Date: 7/7/2003 2:52:00 AM  From Authorid: 18516    I found part of a roach in my wendys cup before. yucky but medusa said everything that I would have.
Date: 7/13/2003 3:51:00 PM  From Authorid: 61901    Whats wrong with that guy????? I love blood sandwichs!
