This Story Gets All Three 'S's' ¤Frankenstein¤

***You read it right. This news item gets all three 'S's'. The story is sad, sick and scary. I hate to think that some moron like this is walking around in public with authority, let alone getting paid to do so.

A Swedish policeman convicted of assaulting a motorist, reckless driving and handcuffing a man suffering a stroke has returned to the force.

The officer was convicted in 2000 of assaulting a moped rider after he ran into the scooter in his police car.

He was also arrested and convicted for breach of duty after he handcuffed a man he said was drunk, but was actually in the midst of suffering from a stroke.

In each case, he was fined and given a suspended sentence. Instead of being dismissed, he was transferred to Sweden's police academy where recruits are taught how to handle personal conflict and fire guns.

He's expected to be back on the force with the police in western Stockholm later this month.

Per Sandell, a member of the Swedish police disciplinary board, said the officer won't be fired because his convictions haven't run counter to any rules.

"To have a police officer fired, he must have grossly neglected his commitments to his employer, which is not the case," Mr Sandell said.

He added that just because the policeman had been sentenced for several different crimes, it wasn't enough to merit his dismissal.

***So, he ran over somebody and cuffed a stroke victim while calling him a drunk and now he's back on the job. I'm surely not the only one who sees something terribly wrong with this picture.

Date: 6/25/2003 6:57:00 AM  From Authorid: 60052    sounds like gross neglect of his commitments to me... that guy should be in jail, not on the force!
Date: 6/25/2003 7:09:00 AM  From Authorid: 42703    I agree with you,and the rest who have commented on this post,,That guy should not be allowed to work on the police force ever again!!!
Date: 6/25/2003 7:12:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    That's what I thought. It's not bad enough that you run over somebody but then, you feel the need to beat them up. Then, a person could be dying but instead of helping them, you chain them up and call them names. This guy should be in jail for a long time instead of getting paid to serve in the capacity of keeping the law. The way I see it, he's the criminal. It's like the pot calling the kettle 'black'. I pray he doesn't have a gun. Fools like that shouldn't even be walking around free and it's really scary if they're armed.

Date: 6/25/2003 7:58:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    I agree. Like I said, it gets all three 'S's'.
Date: 6/25/2003 8:05:00 AM  From Authorid: 51463    that's pretty sick. =-bootz-=
Date: 6/25/2003 8:09:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    Yes, Bootz, it is. For many reasons, this world that we are forced to live in is a now a joke.
Date: 6/25/2003 8:29:00 AM  From Authorid: 48809    Oh no, Frank... indeed you are not the only one who sees something wrong here! How strange that the police dept. could not see how this is so one sided and is tilted in favor of the cop rather than the citizen! In this area I see this all the time. We had one cop who waited for girls and women to get off their jobs at night and then with sirens screaming would pull them over to molest them! There was also one who would give nearly every one who came through his town a ticket for speeding ... but kept the money himself! Fortunately , these no-goods were apprehended finally... but these things are just an example that just because they are called cops does not mean they are saints either! I think the cop in your story should be prosecuted! What an injustice to the poor man that was arrested!
Date: 6/25/2003 8:34:00 AM  From Authorid: 53284    When you end up with a socialist government this is the type of thing that happens. I still have relatives in Sweden. It is not the same country that it was 50 years ago. To many idealists got control of the government and now we have the ideal socialist state that is slowly imploding. Sad Sad Sad.
Date: 6/25/2003 8:59:00 AM  From Authorid: 45906    Hun this world has been a joke for a while, stuff like this happens everyday. In Ardmore growing up we had a officer who was drunk and off duty who tboned another car. The lady died and the man is now a vegtable for the rest of his life. however they said becuse he was off duty at the time of the scident there was nothing they can do and they helped cover it up by not drawing his blood at that time or takeing a test at that time they waited 3 hours later to do so.He got off with a slap on the hand and was back on the force in no time. There are a couple more, one officer i knew had weed growing in his back yard , you think thats powderd sugar on that doughnut yeah right. Dont get me wrong there are the good the bad and the REALLY ugly. However that store takes the cake ran over the dude then cuffed him dang.........
Date: 6/25/2003 9:19:00 AM  From Authorid: 35720    That's sad that they would actually let him back on the force.. can't they find LAW-ABIDING police officers?
Date: 6/25/2003 10:07:00 AM  From Authorid: 4292    nope, your not..that is some sad stuff..but then again..some police just don't care what's going on really, they just like the joy in "bringing someone in" and booking them..just my opinion..and thats only some of them, not all of them..lol..*shrugs*..thanks for sharing frank..=)
Date: 6/25/2003 10:24:00 AM  From Authorid: 28989    There's a mean, scary cop on the beat in the neighborhood where I work. Everyone's afraid of him. He'll site you for breathing. He yelled at one of our customers for parking a few inches over a yellow curb. Someone told one of our consultants about it, and she went out to defend our client. She came back in tears, saying that the cop threatened to ticket her, too. She said even the client was in tears. Mean!!!
Date: 6/25/2003 10:24:00 AM  From Authorid: 36901    And law enforcement officers wonder why the majority of people don't trust them...
Date: 6/25/2003 11:43:00 AM  From Authorid: 54247    Wow, this police officer is the one who belongs in jail. RAT
Date: 6/25/2003 1:59:00 PM  From Authorid: 22721    Jail seems way to easy for this person. I say tie raw meat to his body, and drop hom in a cage of hungry wolves. But that's just me.
Date: 6/25/2003 2:06:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    Trust me, Tiffany, I know way more about that sort of thing than I'd care too. I've just been through it all and it was a nightmare.
Date: 6/25/2003 2:11:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    Yes, Apryl, and I used to like cops. After what happened to me, I no longer have that same general opinion of them. Some of them are nice guys and some aren't. Some of them are crooked. I learned that first-hand the day that a guard came and screamed, "If you're going to be smoking in my pod, put one in the door!" In other words, he would overlook it if they gave him a cigarette. There's something terribly wrong in that. Tiffany, if you don't know what I'm talking about here, check out my series, "Jail Time." You'll learn much there.
Date: 6/25/2003 3:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 55021    that sucks! he shouldn't be able to be back on the force! >=(
Date: 6/25/2003 5:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 59940    Somebody get the guy fired! This isn't right!!Aye,but it isn't our conflict to deal with, sad as it is.Had it been...let's just say I'd like to hug his throat.Squeeze.Hard.Or at least land the guy a couple decades in the bin.OMG,did I just say that?!*looks wide eyed*FE
