That is still going on? I have a friend who lives in SouthLyon and works in Ann Habor. I saw it on the news and couldn't believe what I was seeing. According to the news report at the time, a black guy was running from the police on a motorcycle, he had a warrant for his arrest and was either believed to be on drugs or carrying drugs on him. The police gave chase, well as they chased him at speeds of 100 mph (if I rememeber right) he lost control and slammed into a wall, which killed him. Everyone said it was the polices fault for chasing him etc and a riot broke out over it. I wasn't there so I don't know what all took place but still.. that riot is uncalled for. God Bless  |

Mob mentality?? We may think of it as a problem of today. However, many years ago - about 1947 our high school had a pet dog that went through the halls during the school year and we all fed him scraps. In the summertime, the school was closed and he began to beg from guests at the Elms Hotel (very fancy, elite one north of KC, MO and about three blocks from the school). The manager was annoyed and had him shot. Immediate reaction throughout our town was to "Hang" the manager - sorry, cannot remember the man's name. My parents absolutely would not let me participate. No property burned, but they definitely wanted the hotel manager DEAD! The riot did not last long. RAT |

This whole thing does nothing to improve peoples views on them if nothing else it shows how foolish they are. The man that died and that they are using as an excuse for the riots was RUNNING from the law, he broke the law and smashed into the tree, no bodies fault but his own. I am sorry for you and all the people who are not involved but are suffering because of their lack of respect for others. Everyone involved should be put in jail and given the maximum that can be given.  |
