Weight...please help!

Ok, I have a small problem.-I need to lose some weight. In the last few months since I've not been running, I've gained about 12 pounds. I think the main reason is I lost a lot of muscle mass, then it turned to fat, and I started gaining. But the problem is:How to get rid of it?!?!? I can slim down my stomach pretty easy-just doing sit-ups for about a week or so, and that will be fine. My main target area is my thighs. I've always been pretty self-conscious of this (since I was about 9 or 10). Now, let me reassure those of you who don't know-running does NOT slim down your thighs! I need help! My thighs are quite large for my size & shape. In fact, most of the weight I gained is in my thighs! (That may be why I have stretch marks...) So, please, can some one give me some advice on several quick/easy (meaning NO surgeries or anything high $) so I can lose a couple inches off my thighs?? (Yes, they're THAT big) Please help! Thank you very much, in advanced.

I'm jealose over your stomach though!!!!! Wish i could do a week of sit-ups and have that area taken care of. Guess we all have one trouble spot we have to deal with!

But you could try doing squats (with weights is great!), use the stepper machine, lunges, running up and down stairs, try joining 'marital art' style of aerobic class ~ i do these and they are fantastic for burning fat and shapping your legs! best of luck!

Date: 6/18/2003 9:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 62212    Ive had a fellow assisstant coach address this to the team we coach. Females when they run must also run backwards when they run forward. With how the female body is ( for child birth ) running straight forward gives your thigh muscles a big workout, thus making them big. Running backwards is more of a total workout that prevents the thigh muscle from growing.
