I have read that you can try leaning over the back of a chair like right under your rib cage area and just keep applying pressure. I think that would be hard to do though. That would be really scary! Glad you're okay! *Peaches* |

Geez, I really don't know what I would do! I have a tendancy to panic even if the house is full of people. I would probably start throwing myself against a chair or something...calling it the hemlick!! |

maybe you just didn't do it hard enough, if you were home alone you coulda called 911 like you said, you also could have walked to a neighbors or tried to get a passing car to stop and help you |

your supose to use a chair right under your rib cage to help push hair up from your lungs to push it out.... or look in the phone book*L* they have the basics of how to do it in htere(or atleast every phonebook i've seen) it's also a good thing to have is basic first aid... you can never go wrong getting it! |

Oh dang...ok that is a scary feeling Becky! You can actually do the heimlich on yourself or with the use of a hard table or chair or desk...on yourself: put your non-dominant hand into a fist, without your thumb inside the fist, put it just above your navel, take your dominant hand and cover your fist with it and quickly thrust inwards/upwards...i hope this makes sense =) |

I learned it like Chica Bella told you but you were not choking when you did it remember in a situation like that you are going to have some serious adreniline flowing you wuld most likely do it hard enough to get it out |

Definatly need to take some sort of course i guess |

well, first of all let me say, i am glad you are OK. i took CPR and everything, but i KNOW i wouldn't be able to do it on myself. right after i took the class, my son choked on a piece of candy and i practically panicked! i would probably call 911 and let them trace the call. (my little sister called 911 years age because she was angry that my niece wouldn't share her dolls. she hung up, but they came to the house anyway. they traced the call, so i know they can do it. LOL) by the way, i will take a drink with food in my mouth sometimes too. so your not alone on that one. LOL |

Choking is scary and I'm glad you're ok. The thing I've choked on that scared me the most was a cube of ice. I accidentally swallowed the whole thing and it scared the heck outta me and yes I was home alone but I was able to cough it back up after a few tries. |
