Should I be Insulted or Flattered? *Looks confused* -Evil King Stan-

The other day my mom got slightly mad at me and said something that confuses me... I don't know wether I should be offended, or happy. She said I'm too nice. Hmmm... Someone was bugging us, and I wasn't saying anything, and just being nice to them. So she said I was being way too nice, and should start putting people in their place, and not be so gentle and soft spoken. Hmmmmmmm..... Is this like an insulting compliment or something?

Date: 6/16/2003 4:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 47699    It was compliment so take it as such. I know you and you're a nice person. She also meant for you to stand up for yourself, though, and not let anyone push you around. She was giving you some good advice, there. You don't look for trouble but you don't take any crap, either. You'll be fine, my friend.

Date: 6/16/2003 4:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 56927    Be flattered, but have sceptical edge. Make people know you are wary you may be being insulted. That way you'll ward off any tension.
Date: 6/16/2003 5:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 53013    I would take it as a compliment. There aren't to many nice people left in todays society.
Date: 6/16/2003 5:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    Franks right....I've gotten the 'your too nice for your own good' speel as well....they say it to be truthful but also as a 'warning' to be heeded....that if you don't learn to say 'no' and such....people will use your niceness against you....
Date: 6/16/2003 5:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    being too nice is great... but it really effects you down the road to be taken advantge of
Date: 6/16/2003 6:06:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57726    lol but it's so hard standing up for myself. Thanks everyone, maybe I'll give sticking up for myself a try sometime *Hesitates*

Date: 6/16/2003 9:48:00 PM  From Authorid: 61966    I'm clueless to that question because my mom has said the same thing and I'm not sure what to think of it. I agree with you, it is much easier to be nice than to be mean to someone. -BreathingBody
