There once was an angel
Who had fallen from the sky
She had been cast out of heaven
And had been left to die
And when she had fallen
From her place high above
She gave up on hope
And she gave up on love
So left on a land
That was cruel and was cold
She looked towards heaven
And there she was told
If you wish to return
Then love you must find
And if you do not
You can’t return to the sky
The angel bowed her head
And drooped her angel wings
Then noticed that her feathers
Had begun to change
Not a glowing white no more
But now a faded grey
Black around the softened tips
As her feathers fell away
Her feathers fell off one by one
Till only a few were left
Her angel wings had been plucked from her
Stolen like petty theft
For now that her wings were broken
And that she could not fly no more
Not only could she not take to the sky
But her soul could no longer soar
A tear fell from her angel eye
As she now set to her task at hand
To find love in a place this cold
In this cruel and barren land
But who could love a fallen angel?
Was the question to be asked
Certainly not the people she saw
As they would run or hurry past
For years she looked, but could not find
The love that she had sought
To scared to talk to one of them
And find out what they thought
They did not know just what she was
In their eyes she could see the fear
And in her heart she felt it break
As her judgment day drew near.
And then at last the day had come
And in sorrow she fell to the ground
For even though she had searched high and low
No love for her could be found
She wept in grief and cried to heaven
“Why could I not find love!
You the one who created this land
And watch us from above”
And in return she got a reply
And realized with despair
That all along there had been love
All along it had been there
That to have the love she searched for
You had to love one in return
Now that her fault had been brought to light
The table had been turned
If you want someone to love you
Then you have got to try
And take down your walls around you
Don’t be cold, but just be kind
So simple these words may seem to one
But to her it meant her end
Because she had failed to see this error
Her life she did now defend
The light from heaven disappeared
And she was left alone
Still on the earth where she had fallen
Her heart now made of stone
Now what ever happened to that angel
The one who fell from heaven’s grace?
You may not know it when you see her
This angel has but not one face
She takes on many forms of people
Mostly those with grief and pain
She still yearns and looks for love though
Even of today
So if you pass by a tear faced girl
Try not to be deceived
For you never know when it may be
The angel with broken wings
