Maybe you should get a job and save and get yourself a car or maybe your parents are pushing so much for you to get your permit because maybe they will surprise you with one. Usually when you expect something to happen it doesn't. |

lol u dont know my parents ! My mother just got a new bf with 2 more kids and moved us all into a new expensive house... she has other money spending plans too (despite not having money!) The only car I'd get would be from my dad *maybe* if he can afford it with his tax return...my mother dont think I need one or that she should have to buy it (pay in conjuction with my grandparents and dad!) I don't see a need for a job yet either...dont get me wrong I mean yeah someday I'll need one but why now? I can't see it... |

well i wasen't jumping at the bit to get mine either.. what made me get mine is my father bought me a car(he works for ford one came in at a great deal and he jumped on it) he bought all the parts and fixed it up and basically said this is your car here's the bill(what i found a little amusing i think i paid back maybe half of it) and this car was sitting there for me... they were also just about the change the driving laws so i went for it(2 days before it changed)... may i suggest getting it BEFORE you move out.... because once you move outta your parents house it's heckishly hard to get it it's also the best peice of ID to have(because it has a picture on it) |

i dont think parents should just give thier children cars... i think the child should atleast half earn hte money topay for it.. it teaches a value of a dollar and the fact that things just arn't handed to them in real life... it also teaches independance |

I don't think your that odd....My best friend didn't even get her permit til she was 17....her sister didn't even get her permit/license til she was 19 and because she was forced by her parents LOL as for the car deal....Unless your family HAS a car I agree with midnightly that the kid should pay for some of it....In my case my parents GOT new cars so they gave me moms old one.....then dad got a new one and mine was breaking down so I got HIS old one.....wish I still had that thing....But I crunched it so I had to pay for a new used one LOL... |

I do not think any parent should buy their children automobiles. It does not teach them responsibility. I think you should get your permit,so you can practice and have your license. You can always borrow your moms car. I would get it done and over with If I were you. |

It's not a bad idea to get your license whether or not you have a car. It's a good idea to have a picture id. Unless your planning to commit a crime sometime soon, so then they won't have your picture or your prints on file. And besides there could come a day you might need to drive a car in an emergency. I've had my license since I was 16, I don't know why, but I was really eager to drive. And I still love driving. |

I never saw the thrill in it either, thats why I put it off for such a long time. I actually just got mine about 3 weeks ago, and I am 19. I think, just get it over and done with, even if your not feeling it right now. Sooner or later you will need to get it! .. yeah I have to buy my own vehicle, no one is going to hand it to me, I think I like it better that way. |

i think it's good to go for your learners just to have hte learners and take yoru sweet time bumping up... use this time to practice who said you can't have yoru learners until it expires and re-new your learners... i had a friend who renewed her learners twice before she actually took the road test.. she went for it so she can take her sweet time practicing... i know your not in a hurry...but you don't want to take short cuts when learning how to drive |

I didn't get mine until I was 23. My son got his at age 18 and we let him take over the payments on one of our trucks so then it became his. Try saving your money because trust me it costs a lot for insurance, just as my son..LOL |

I wasn't overly excited to get my liscense, but after I got I was thrilled! So, I say you should get it and go from there. Best of luck! |

I didn't get my learners permit until I was 19. But in Australia it is very rare for your parents to buy you a car. Just start dating a guy who owns a car then you won't need one.only kidding! |

Oh i know what you mean. I have my license and at first it was great, and then after awhile i was sick of driving. My sister keeps bickering about how i drove ever drive. she really shold get over it, because only drive where i neeed to be or want to be, and im not going to go out "cruising" or something. Yeah i got my moms old car, my sister complains that its a "hearse". God I really would like to sock her in the face. she should worry about her own life and not mine. |

i was the same way. i had no desire to get my license when i was young. i finally got it when i was 19. and that was only because my grandmother made me. but i borrowed cars. i never had a car of my own until i was married (just before i turned 20) and that was only because my husband got me the car. |

Well if you aren't in a rush to get your permit then whey do you care if you have a car or not. You shouldn't just expect it. If you got a little job you would show responsibility and you will be able to pay for your own gas and others that come along with the responsibility of a car. Why would they push you so much to get your permit if they knew your license would just go to waste with no car, no gas, nothing. I was working at 14. I did get a car handed down to me though but I paid for everything to keep that car up. |

they want me to have the permit (when I say they I mean my mother) so I get a job. A vicious cycle . Ya know I really have no where to go, no need for a job (at this point in my life), I think I'm just gonna wait on it... |
