I needed some good days. And they finally arrived. So now I have to share!! :)
First, let me give a little info here. For about six months or so, I've been doing my family tree. This hobby has become almost an obsession. One line of my family I've traced, with documentation, back more generaions than I can count. So I was happy with that. However, another line had stopped dead cold with my great grandparents. I looked and looked, and used every resource available to me to find info on my great great grandparents, but to no avail.
As luck would have if, yesterday my great uncle called. He's the last surviving child of my great grandparents, and is in his 80's. A few questions and jarring of his memory, and I have a couple of names: my great great grandparents!! And it gets better. After doing some research, I found some interesting info. There's cemetery named after my family. This, to a genealogist, is very cool in a weird sort of way. Furthermore, I found info on the missing great great grandparents via census records. In the record, it was indicated that my great great grandfather's father was born in Ireland. <Have I lost you yet? lol> Long story short <too late!!> I saw someone buried in the cemetery named after my family, who was 29 years older than my great great grandfather. First hint: a reasonable age to be his father. Second hint: he bore a very Irish name. So, a lot more research, done on a hunch (which much of genealogy is) I was able to prove this unknown person to be, yes you guessed it, my great great great grandfather!!! Happy happy day because the brick wall I had hit concerning that line crumbled in minutes. Eventually, all the information I have compiled will be made into a book, for future generations of my family.
And today. For reasons beyond our control, my guy and I are apart. Upon checking the mail today, my ticket to go see him for 2 weeks had arrived!!! Happy happy happy. A month from today I will be with him.
Ah, after all the bad days, I needed some good. This just could not get any better.
Thanks for reading if you made it this far. Most of the time we vent over the bad stuff. I needed to vent over the good.
