Its a scam...Our local news did a bit on this.... E-Mail Scam: Credit Information Being Released The e-mails began circulating earlier this year. The letters inform consumers that major credit bureaus are releasing information about their credit to anyone requesting it. It also urges consumers to call a hotline telephone number to prevent the release of information. But, it's a scam because your credit file is protected by "The Fair Credit Reporting Act" and will not be released to just anyone. ~ZooKeeper~ ![]() |

You can call the credit bureaus to do this. They all have an 800 number which can be obtained through 1-800-555-1212. The bureaus are currently Esperian, Equifax and TransUnion. Once you get their number from 800 information, you can call each of them. Usually, they have a automated system where you leave your identification and SSN to have your credit info private.
