Wedding Questions

My boyfriend and I have decided to get married. I'm 23; he's 21. There aren't really any problems between us, and both of our families are happy (even tho it's not OFFICIAL until he speaks to my father -- but they all know, lol).

We've decided to have a small, Christian/Messianic Jew ceremony -- just me, him, our parents and both our step fathers, our siblings and about 4 close friends. I'll be decked out in a wedding dress I already chose. His step father is a Messianic minister and so he will precede over the wedding. After which, we'll all go to dinner and maybe a little dancing. The next morning, we plan on heading to either Atlantic City or Las Vegas to pamper ourselves in one of their amazing gambling hotels, lol, for 4 days and then we'll come back to NYC and finish school.

What do you think? Sound good?

I know alot of us are young that frequent this site. If you were getting married, what type of ceremony would you do? Wouldja just walk to the courthouse and take pictures with your sweetie outside, or do you want a wedding to rival Princess Di's?

How it changed my life:

We're from different parts of the world but we are generally agreeing to the same things. I've never loved this strongly before and I PRAY this is the LAST time I plan a wedding lol.

Date: 6/7/2003 4:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 3688    when i got married my hubby and i had a small wedding at a wedding chapel in our city with just a handful of friends in attendance i loved it
Date: 6/7/2003 4:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 58427    I'm not married (nor will I be anytime soon! I'm a youngin') but I plan on having a medium sized wedding-family and close friends. The idea of just goin to the courthouse or something smaller like that just doesnt interest me. I guess I'm goin for the biggin'! LoL! Good Post! ~*Peaches*~

Date: 6/7/2003 5:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 7952    Ahh.. Wedding plans, huh?? Sounds like a stressful time! One word of advice.. don't put yourself severly into debt because of a wedding. Some people go way overboard and are in debt for the rest of their lives, LOL. It seems like you have that under control though. As long as your studies are not severly interupted by your wedding and honeymoon..etc, then i see nothing wrong with it. Good luck!! I hope it all turns out well
Date: 6/7/2003 5:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 14780    I had a small sweet, nice wedding...It was at my mother in laws with about 20 people. I wore a teal green dress but not a wedding dress...lol..Im thinking that on our 25th which is only 16 years away that we will renew our vowels and I will wear a wedding dress...lol..and have a "real" honey moon!
Date: 6/7/2003 6:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    i do agree not going overboard on the wedding itself... and not too crazy on the after party... i do think it's better to not deck right out on the wedding and save a little extra for the honeymoon and the starting your life together(getting a down payment on a home as soon as you can is the best idea) it's nice to have your friends around you though... personally when i get married i have a seni large extended family and my BF has a very small family... we're pretty much going to have it in my mothers back yard in late summer not go overboard on decorations... convince our family to do the cooking so we don't have to higher someone to do so... save alot by having a family member bake the cake instead of buying one... but do spend the bucks on the photos...get a professional photographer to do them... these pictures are going to be some of the most important photos you have...these will be on display for the rest of your life... you want someone who knows what they are doing to take them!
Date: 6/7/2003 7:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    another thing i'm going to do... is me and my future husband(what is my current BF we don't plan to get married any time soon but we are workign towards that... right now is not hte right time finacially) we are going to do dancing lessons so we look good on hte dance floor none of this swaying from side to side stuff what everyone does now... actually dance with dips and twirls
Date: 6/11/2003 12:21:00 AM  From Authorid: 62100    I personally want an outdoor wedding with lots of flowers and benches decked out with the frills. This is the one and only time that I will ever get married and so I want it to be beautiful..still have a while to wait anyway, I want to get through nursing school first and get established financially a little better than we are so that we can afford a nice wedding as we both have good sized families.
Date: 6/12/2003 7:41:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 61999    Thanks, all, for your ideas on your own weddings. They all sound like they'll be events to remember. I'm definitely not going overboard, lol. We'll have a small cake. I think the VIP reservations at a restaurant here called Dorsia and my dress will be the most expensive things. Thanksomuch! :-) I love fun questions, lol. ~~The Mighty DreamGyrl~~
