Outsiders changing our country, why can't we?

I was just reading a story about an Islamic woman who refused to take her veil off to have a driver's licence photo because of her beliefs. I am sorry but this is getting out of hand and starting to be rediculous. I am a catholic and I am not allowed to celebrate christmas or easter in my school by decorating my locker because it may offend someone. I am tired of other religions coming here and making it so christians can't be themselves. There are kids that get out of doing gym because it's "against their religion. " Give me a break. If that's the case then all students should have the right to refuse to go to gym. I personally am one that does not believe in homework. The work should be givin at the begining of class and worked on throughout the class period. I know I am not alone in my beliefs, so why isn't anything being done about that? If people from other countries can change our society then we should be able to as well. Am I right? Let me know what you guys think.

Asking that woman to take off her veil is like asking you to walk around naked...according to her morals, it is the same.
Date: 6/6/2003 3:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 44850    i do agree with you ... it does seem out of hand, but, please remember that this country was founded on the concept of religious freedom and the fact that your gov. shouldn't be able to force you to do things that are against your religion.

Date: 6/6/2003 5:08:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 17228    you guys make good points, and all I'm saying is that they get away with things that are against the rules because of their religion

Date: 6/6/2003 6:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 54987    But christians can be themselves and are. If christians can't celebrate christmas, then no other religion can either. Celebrating christmas is not the same as exposing parts of the body like in a gym class. Just be thankful that christianity doesn't have any strict dress codes. This is a country of religious freedoms and that is why there is a separation of church and state. That is, freedom to practice religion or not to practice religion.
Date: 6/6/2003 7:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    i think religions should be respected i don't think someone should have to go against thier religion to do something just because they don't follow the same religion as you... and may i ask what religion says it's against thier following(faith) to take gym... that sounds like a whole load of whooy to me!
Date: 6/6/2003 7:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    christianity(or any other god bible realated religions) are the religions of the masses... they're holidays are stat holidays... do you think it's right that some people cannot take off a religious holiday because they had a "stat" a week earlier what has no baring on thier religion??....people shouldn't have to compromise thier beliefs...
Date: 6/6/2003 8:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 47218    woah...hold it there. Christianity isn't the official religion of the U.S. American citizens come from all sorts of religious backgrounds...including Muslim.
