The Principal Called My Daughter A Brat...LOL........

This is the first REAL altercation that my daughter has had at school. She has had her discipline problems here and there but she has never been bad enough to get sent to the principal's office until today.

The kids were getting ready for snack and were in the cubbies getting them out of their bookbags. A flag that the kids had gotten at school for Memorial day had fallen from another child's bookbag onto the floor. Another little girl was picking it up to put it in her own bookbag and Azairyia stopped her and told her it was the other girl's. So this little girl reached out and scratched Azairyia in the arm. Azairyia went ahead and elbowed the girl in the stomach, knocking her over and the little girl ended up bumping her head on one of the cubbies. Not that big of a deal, just a little scuffle.

So off they go the Principal's office and then I get a note as she comes crying out the door from school. In the car Azairyia informs me that while they were in the office the computer teacher came in and the Principal told the computer teacher that these little brats were fighting.

"WHAT?" So now I get the full explanation, apparently the computer teacher asked what they did and she turned and said "Oh these little brats were fighting."

So I pick up the phone and I call the principal. "My daughter was in your office earlier this morning. She had a little bit of problem with another student, Azairyia ---. I want you to know that she will be punished accordingly here at home for her behavior, but I am calling in regards to a remark she overheard you make to the computer teacher. Something along the lines of "these little brats were fighting."

"Oh NO!, I have never called a child a name before and I did not refer to them as brats. Let me see, let me recall what happened, Okay, Mrs. ---- came into my office and nodded her head in the direction of the girls and said something about them being bad and I said, Oh these are my little scufflers."

"Well, please understand my position to have my child come and tell me that her principal refered to her as a brat. I had to, whether truth in the matter or not,call you if only to make the point that even though my child was wrong there is no way that I will allow her teachers, the staff or the principal to call her names.

"I completely understand, I didn't refer to them as brats and our conversation went very nice and it was pleasant, and I appreciate the fact that you called me."

I believe my child, brat and scufflers are pretty hard words to get mixed up over, she denies it.. so be it. She does now know that I am not tolerant at all and I called the first time and will call every time I find something questionable. I betcha it's the last time she calls my kid a brat though...LOL
