I can understand the religion thing, however government laws are laws, either show your face or forfeit your right to drive!! |

Kethria I agree. I know that in my state of MN, they tell us that driving isn't a right, it's a priviledge. |

There is no requirement to wear a veil. There are many muslim women in many countries who choose not to wear a veil. This person was an ex-con also. She had been busted for (I think) child abuse. I don't think she of all people should be able to disguise her face for a license photo. |

I say taking the veil off for a picture that identifies you,and allows you to drive, is not wrong at all,how many people will really see what sits in your wallet? She can walk around everyday with her veil on ,nobody tells her to remove it then, she could have compromised for her D.L photo, they said it would have been her and the woman photographer alone in the room for her picture,so no men to see her unveiled.I often see the women that wear the veils lift them off when it gets too hot,so what is her problem?? |

I don't really find it that big of a deal at all. She should have just removed the **** thing and just got it over with. It's not like it'd kill her. It was only for a moment. O.o; I understand it's her religion, but laws are laws. ~deadstar |

I say that to allow her to wear a veil would show inverse discrimination against those that DONT wear such things, and if she were allowed to I would apply with a photo of my face completely obscured. But then what would be the point of it for ID purposes anyways... |

I agree with the judge... wouldn't any one of us who decided to cover our faces and were spotted by the cops ... be told to "knock it off?" You betcha! |

if she wants to be an American and have a license, then she should look like the rest of us in our pictures, nothing covering the face...I would like to cover my face though, it's spooky...lol @ Golden Taxi |

She could have a female at the DMV take her photo and not show the license unless she is pulled over by the police..she could demand a female police officer on the scene to view the photograph..welcome to Judge Kelly's court, case closed. |

I was sure this would be the outcome. I mean, don't you just know that IF this woman were allowed to cover her face, that there would be an awful lot of criminals who would do the same and claim that it was their "religious" belief as well to avoid being identified if they committed a crime? "Gee, officer, that isn't really me; I don't have any idea whose picture that is". *rolls eyes* |

The entire purpose of an ID of any kind is for identification purposes...if you're wearing a veil, that defeats the entire purpose of having identification, nor does this violate any type of religious creed. It is not specifically stated in the Quran that women should wear veils, just that they dress modestly. |

Well, unveiling is just a belief for her...it is not mentioned in the Quran, in fact if you look at a country such as Iran, they choose not to wear the veils because their society is slightly more modern than say, Saudi Arabia. |

I agree with Rusure. I have to admit even though I didn't agree with this from the beginning for purely "common sense" reasons, she already had discredited herself and her morals in my book by her prior conviction. SHE abused a foster child. A Child! Her religion is a sham as far I'm concerned. Bottom line, I take her for a shyster, pure and simple. She was out for either money or fame. Either way she got less than she deserves. Regardless, she tried to use Religion as her "personal soap box" and common sense prevailed. |
