What happens when you get angry?

I don't mean upset. But the kind of anger that might happen when your husband trades in the payed off car for a truck with a high payment without telling you he was even thinking of doing such a thing.

Do you hold it in?

Do you let it out?

Does it fester and eventually everything builds and builds until you finally explode?

Or are you able to work through it in a level-headed fasion?

It takes a LOT to get me angry. But when I do, I get dizzy, my face flushes (blood preasure going up?), my hands shake and stuff comes out of my mouth that usually makes no sense, though sometimes every other word might be understood if you are a sailor on shore leave. Luckily I can count on one hand the times I've been this angry.

My husband on the other hand has the "flash in the pan" kind of anger that doesn't take much to set off. It burns hot and fast and is over within a minute. I learned just to study my nails until he snaps out of it, usually within a minute or two. Than he becomes a resonable human once again and see's things my way. The kids have learned that when punishments are handed out when he is angry, like a 6 month grounding, they will eventually be shortened to a weekend.

So how do you handle anger? Can you control it or does it control you?

Date: 6/6/2003 10:59:00 AM  From Authorid: 36704    I usually never say anything to people when they do something that annoys me or makes me mad. I just let it all fester inside of me and build until I get to the point where I'm angry everyday for no reason. Then someone gets in my face or says something and I go off and beat the crap out of them. I have no control over my anger it definitely controls me.
Date: 6/6/2003 11:34:00 AM  From Authorid: 57404    It isn't good for me or the person who made me mad if I hold it in. lol I think it depends on the situation. If it is someone close to me may hold it in, because my words are sharp and can cut very deep when I am upset or angry. And I don't want to hurt them. It takes a lot to make me very angry, but when I am, I can black out from the rage, so I tend to try and control it and not let it effect me enough to get me to that point. Luckily for me I can count the times it has happened on one hand. LOL It isn't a pretty sight! My husband got a taste of that once, thank God he is a big man and I didn't do much damage when I blacked out. God Bless
Date: 6/6/2003 1:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 24732    I don't do anything at all. I'm hardly ever angry. I guess not very many things bother me.

Date: 6/6/2003 3:49:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228    Cheroke Wolf, that is exactly the way I am, it takes a lot to get me going.
Date: 6/6/2003 3:52:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228    Alien, lucky for you and your family!! But like I said, I don't rage very often, but when I do it might be mistaken for a seizure or something.
Date: 6/6/2003 4:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 24924    I TRY to stay FOCUSED on the facts. I may walk away, think about it, what was said or done, figure out why and how its best to deal with the situation; then I set out to clear it up. I am certainly not one to shove things under the rug and delude myself that something didn't really happen or make excuses for anything. I KNOW that clear communication is always the best.
Date: 6/7/2003 2:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 13119    I grow huge muscles, rip off my shirt and turn green! :P
Date: 6/8/2003 6:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 4144    i usually don't get angry. i get even! and my husband would never do anything with my car or any other vehicle we have. he doesn't keep a checkbook and he's afraid to stick his hand in my purse to get mine! sometimes he will ask me if we have any money if he wants something. poor guy is dumb as a stump about some things!! maybe that's why i don't get angry!
