Computer Question

OK I just signed onto MSN and I go to check my mail and I find that I have one of those emails saying an email I sent was undeliverable. It says the reason for that is that I have a fatal virus in the email. First I have scanned my computer and it does not detect anything and second I did not send the email to begin with...it was to an email address that I do not recognize. WHat could this mean? I was thinking somebody may have hacked into my account somehow...I can't figure out how I sent an email when I was asleep though and to an email address I dont even know

Date: 6/6/2003 8:08:00 AM  From Authorid: 53284    Somebody else has your email address in their address book. The virus is on their computer. It spoofs your address as the sender then sends to the people on the address list on the other persons computer. Then if there is a problem, the return address is yours.

I have gotten this email before and it usually either says mail undeliverable because of fatal issues with the email address I know that usually means the email addy is either no longer in use or the email user has mail turned off. This was returned from AOL mail delivery system and it looks exactly like ones i have gotten before when someone I know has changed their address and I didnt know orr I forgot...it gets sent back to me. I will do another scan though and see what I find. I did not open the attachments so I dont think they could have infected my computer if it is a virus.

Date: 6/6/2003 8:14:00 AM  From Authorid: 57404    Yea, sounds like someone else got the virus and it sent out everyones address that was on theirs. There are new viruses out there everyday, so I don't know if a virus scan will always detect these new viruses. If it was me, I would just reformat my pc, wipe everything off the system and reinstall everything just to be safe. God Bless

Date: 6/6/2003 10:00:00 AM  From Authorid: 46527    LOL@St Pete, don't worry, it's the IP addy on it that counts it's easy to put a fake return address in.
