Yes, We Have Freedom But........ ¤Frankenstein¤

It's true that we have freedom of speech in this country. That's why so many people can write posts about how our President is Satan and there's no such thing as God. The U.S. Constitution gives us that right and we don't hesitate to use it. It gives me the right to post this. It's just my view of things. We have other freedoms as well, though. We have freedom of expression. If it wasn't for that, Harold Digby, the hair-lip who worked as the ticket taker at the Capitol Theatre, would be locked up now. Without freedom of expression, he could have never taken a massive dump behind a trash receptacle in the lobby and gotten away with with it. Heck, he wasn't even fired! According to many, he was simply 'expressing' himself in his own simple way.

We have the right to a speedy trial whenever we're accused of anything. That was proven when I was accused in December of driving while impaired and it took five months to get the blood work back. By the time it's all said and done and I can move on, it will be well over a year. Well, really, more like a year and a half if you want to know the truth. I didn't even do anything in the first place. Believe it or not. I feel like Robert Ripley now but that was intentional. Actually, I should have said, believe it or don't. I'm sort of sneaky that way at times. Speedy? Oh, you know it!

We have a right to vote once we've attained the age of eighteen. If a felony is committed, then, that right is forfeited as is the right to own a firearm. Well, if you committed a felony, you have no business owning a firearm. It seems to me that many of the ones who whine the loudest about how they're so upset and hate our elected leaders so much are the ones who don't bother to take the time and effort to vote. It isn't my fault or theirs, either. Why should we have to hear about it? I don't think we should. Do people not vote because they think that their opinion doesn't matter? If that was the case, we'd be forced to scratch to survive in an animalistic anarchy. Yes! Votes DO count! Vote already or hush!

There are people who take ample advantage of those rights and abuse some of the others. I can't wait to see what kind of replies this post gets. I really don't mean to write things of an inflamatory nature but I can't help it sometimes. I see and hear things daily that really get under my skin.

I have a favor to ask of you. This post was intended only to make people think. It wasn't meant to be confrontational in any way. Please, please, please, for the love of God and all that is Holy, don't try to turn it into a debate. It's merely some of my observations. I despise debates with every fiber of my being. I'm not a confrontational person at all. Thanks in advance for your understanding and compliance to my simple request.

Date: 5/30/2003 10:22:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    Jessica, Florida has nothing at all to do with what this post is about.
Date: 5/31/2003 2:37:00 AM  From Authorid: 47296    Before anyone can truly enjoy the freedoms and rights we have, they must first know what it is not to have them.
Date: 5/31/2003 3:32:00 AM  From Authorid: 22852    Ahh Warrior Spirit said it! People in America {not all but many} are selfish, they see only what they want to see. I myself vote every election, I admit I always thought my vote didn't count, but it does and if I didn't vote then I kept my mouth shut as to who was in office. Maybe people who take advantage of our freedoms spent a year living in oh lets say Iraq or North Korea then maybe they would have a different view of things and be Thankful for the gift of being able to live in America, and Not take our freedoms so lightly.
Date: 5/31/2003 7:23:00 AM  From Authorid: 61901    Great Post Frank, I vote and I believe my vote counts. We as Americans are (for the most part) Lazy and uninformed. What good is your vote if your elected repersentives are out of control. Once inside the Beltway, they tend to forget about us. This is were we drop the ball as Americans, We must hold their feet to the fire and keep them in check!
Date: 5/31/2003 7:53:00 AM  From Authorid: 15228    About that right to vote! My husband is in the military, he has paid very high taxes to the state of Iowa for 18 years, yet the one service they are suppose to provide him i.e., sending an absentee ballot in the mail, they couldn't even do! I still think it was because he registered republican and Iowa is a democratic state, so oops, they misplaced his paperwork. As soon as we moved to Texas, we switched his residency to here so he doesn't have to pay taxes to Iowa anymore. Jerks! He was sending them almost $200.00 a month in state taxes. He would get maybe a 100.00 tax return back if he were lucky. Their loss.
Date: 5/31/2003 7:54:00 AM  From Authorid: 15228    by the way, we don't have to pay state taxes at all anymore. I LOVE Texas!!!
Date: 5/31/2003 8:32:00 AM  From Authorid: 61977    I do believe my vote counts. Did not recieve my absentee ballot either. Go figure. So I did not vote. I may/or may not like who in office anywhere, I have that right to feel that way. But at the same time they were appointed there. Everything has a purpose, whether we like it or not. We can choose to complain about it and sit back or we can try to give to others and this world the best we can to try and make a difference. Nothing happens in God's world by mistake. LOL Frankie, Good post.
Date: 5/31/2003 12:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 22721    It's weird. If you are 18 in AZ, you can by cigarettes, but you can't get beer or gamble.
