Many people feel very different about this subject. It is very touchy. Myself, I am gonna want to tell my children about Santa, I believe it enhances their imagination. and a kid without imagination is empty. The child will believe in what he/she wants and it gives the child a sense of something...i can't think of the word. I agree lying is wrong...but if you just tell the child about santa and tell them it's a legend they can believe in what they want and figure it out for themselves. Jennie |

I've thought about that too and when I found out Santa wasn't real the first thing that came out of my mouth was... so you lied to me all this time?? But I think the whole Santa deal is more for fun and enjoyment, rather than just lying to your kids. |

I don't really think it is a lie. It is just more fun for the children seeing presents from Santa who lives at the North Pole and he travels all that way. It helps make alot more children shows around Christmas and stuff. I thik it is harmless. |

You know, it is a lie...but who really cares? About the only people I ever hear complain about it are those who really don't really enjoy Christmas in the first place. Feeding a child's imagination is very healthy. |

ponder this, whats better, a lie that draws a smile, or a truth that draws a tear? |

I agree..it's all about enhancing a child's imagination..if we ask them to believe in god..although they cannot see him..are we lying? i haven't met anyone yet who was harmed by finding out that santa is somewhat of a fib later on in life...besides..santa was a real person long long ago..the only difference is..he never flew around with reindeer. children will believe in what they want to believe in..whether we tell them to or not..some believe mickey mouse and all those other characters all dressed up are real..so, i really know what to say on this subject. is it wrong, i believe not. but, that's just my opinion. |

That isn't a lie. What if you told your children the straight out truth about everything? That people kill each other and ' Daddy doesn't love me anymore, I dont love him either'....dont you think that child would be rather upset? Same goes for Santa...its something to make children wonder about, wait for, and hope for. Also to be good..because 'santa's watching' Santa isnt evil or a lie, its just tradition and joy. |

Well it's not such a terrible lie is it? I'm glad I was lied to in this instant. Christmas was fun as a child. This was more a pretend than a lie. All fiction is a lie, but we wouldn't ban fiction would we? When people lie for the reason of deceit then that is different. |
