I applied for Social Security Disability in July 2002. I was turned down and I appealed the decision. I had a hearing this past May 8th. I was once again turned down.

I received the rejection letter today in the mail and it had a form attached stating why i was turned down. It said that I have been treated by this Doctor since 1993 when I wasnt injured until 1998. Now how can they say that I have been being treated for my injuries since 1993 when I didnt get injured until 1998?

Also, another thing is.........in 1998 when I first got injured I was living in Georgia. I didnt move back to Pennsylvania until March 2000. When i moved back to PA I was told that I had to find a new Dr to treat me for my injuries because I was no longer a patient of the Dr's who is on my SSI report. I was being treated by this one Dr since 2000 and he will not release any of my medical records to SSI. He keeps saying they were destroyed in a flood. So the entire report is false.

I am appealing this decision too, but I wqas wondering if anyone had any advice for me on anything to do that could possibly help my case out. I cant afford an attorney or anything like that I havent worked in over a year and I have no income.

Date: 5/29/2003 10:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 11341    They have laywers who specialize in these cases, and most dont want money up front, they will take out of what you get. Good Luck
Date: 5/29/2003 10:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 57404    When you apply again, maybe you can sit down before you go and write out an explaination as to why their report is wrong, since you were not hurt till later and a Dr. can't treat you for an injury that hadn't occured yet. Makes them look like a fool. lol Also, explain to them that it is not your fault that the Dr. can't release records that he doesn't have anymore because of a flood. And that you shouldn't be punished for these things that you have no control over. And maybe look into getting a lawyer that doesn't want money up front but will except payments later or take his money when the check is given. I wish I knew about all this stuff.. Hope it all works out.. God Bless :-)

Date: 5/30/2003 12:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    i'm sorry i don't know much about this... i'm sure there is info all over the net just keep searching and looking... i hope you do get it all worked out...but i guess that's the govermetn for you... take your money soo freely but when you need any of it back they kick and scream and run for the hills
