Beneath Blue Skies

We spent the day together.., sitting underneath an Oak tree.... We sat there.., talking as we have so many times before. The Day was sunny, not a cloud appeared in the sky.. You looked so Happy..,You smiled at me, telling me that You love me..,As though I I could ever forget?. Look there, You pointed, & I looked.. there was an Eagle flying overhead, soaring, up, gliding on the wind. I looked back at You, taking in Your loving, beautiful face & You say.., see he's happy., Just watch him.., You indicated once again,.... The Eagle. I ask.. What are You trying to tell me? You asked instead,. Don't You know? You always did that, Me or someone ask You a question & You would answer the question with a question.., I guess I do a little of that same thing, myself sometimes now. Isn't it funny how we will do that? I suppose I am so much like you, isn't it amazing how time takes care of most everything.., but even time itself hasn't touched the love in my heart for You, .., You were a Soldier, a Survivor, You once said when I was a little girl that Good Soldiers shouldn't cry, when I thought our family was breaking up & I told You, I don't want to be a good soldier, I want You & Mama back together.., I'll never forget the day, You drove to Grandma's, I saw You & hit the door running, You had the biggest smile on Your face, You asked have you been a good soldier? I replied, well, I cheated a little, Just a little? You asked. Thinking about it now, it makes me smile.., I never would have made a Good Soldier.., it takes Something Very Special.. As I looked up toward the Sky...the clouds were dusky grey, purple with pink.., the sun was setting ...the sight was beautiful to behold, I look at You once more.......then I awake.. It's a beautiful day as I walk through the grass so green from a Spring rain..., I search a sea of monuments., finding Your name.. Bending down, my fingers brush across Your name.., Did I ever tell You that You are my Hero?? I understand now what You were trying to tell me, Daddy.. I Will Always Love You, mon'ami
